I have a long action ti stock. Can it be reasonably converted to a bdl stock? I have a stainless mountain rifle I'd love to drop in this stock but I like a floor plate.
Yes, it can be done and I just did it. Works great.

Can you elaborate? You do it by hand or in a milling machine or?
Got one being converted to DBM with a PT&G right now.
700 AAC action, 16" 300BO sporter barrel with PT&G DBM that uses AR mags. Gonna put a SWFA 3-9x on it. Need to source a timney for it.
Well I will keep with the flow here. Haha

I bought a factory TI stock. I’m keeping it in stock (ADL) form though. There ya go.
Dirtfarmer has completed such a project......

Is the stock in good condition? I bet you could trade for a bdl version off a current mountain rifle.

Possibly but I don't think they're the same animal. This thing weighs nearly nothing.
Pooch McPoodle,

Pardon me while you know nothing about facts or physics....

It’s simply throat geometry , RPMs (oooh I just felt a whizzum down there) you couchbound [bleep]’

P.S. Do NOT buy Talley LW because repeated water soaking and throwing off a boat will puke them.

P.S.S. You suck a mean azzz

Alwaysindoors,

I make fun of me better than you do. I named myself after two slang words for the chunk of skin between the balls and azzhole.
OEM BDL "metal" is Dog Schit,as a BEST case scenario. ADL steel, simply blows it away. Hint. Congratulations?!?

Poor poor(literallly) alwaysindoors, always on the outside looking in and trying to talk about wares wellllllllll beyond her "means". Fortunately,Imagination and Pretend are free,so she can "afford" to "contribute"...the "lucky" kchunt. Though in fairness,Imitation remains THE most Sincere form of Flattery. Hint. LAUGHING!

Now she can say that she's "seen" a 700 Ti. Hint.

Only broke (1) set of LW's on that particular rifle, though (8) in total thus far. Hint.

Scope puked too,but that ain't "suplizing" either, being it's a Safe Queen. Hint. LAUGHING!

1000 more LW words. Hint.

PN High RPM 243AI wrapped in a Ti handle. Hint.

Bart' higher RPM 224 Speedmire, wrapped in same. Where's the LW's?!? Hint. LAUGHING!

Knowing me,I'm prolly sandbagging more than a smidge to boot. Hint.

Maybe Dirtfarmer will chime in. I'm not into what other's like or necessarily give a poo about there opinions. I simply want to know the best way to convert this adl stock to bdl. Thanks to all that stay on point and try to help.

Staying on the point is not the usual case here, as you have just found out.

By hand with a Dremel tool...simple. Ive done 3 so far...
I think I’d practice with a take off stock first .

Back from the North Pole, Santa's elf showed up right on que as predicted.

To the OP ...... I had two TIs converted to BDL by the smith that built the rifles. OTOH, I've never had any problems thus far with any Rem 700 factory BDL bottoms on any rifles.

It was done with a milling machine.

I did mine as there was a slight crack in the ADL part of the stock. (it ain't no Mcmilan) I had no choice, and in this case pot metal would obviously be better.

Note, I have never had a problem with the metal BDL parts of a 700.
CAUTION...definitely NOT the same as current Mtn Rifle synthetics, so don't fall for that.

I have both in hand right now.

Current is B&C w/full aluminum bedding block, it's a tank and the grip is like a 2x4.

Original Ti ADL is a feather, slimmer all around.

Don't know why original couldn't be inletted to BDL, but maybe someone can advise.

I have with absolute certainty a original ti adl stock. It is like holding a feather, no full aluminum bedding block.
