I had the Oregon Mountain Rifle Co. do a carbon barrel / brake and flute the bolt on my Tikka 7mm Mag. It turned out really nice and seems stupid accurate. I'm currently running the 160 Accubonds over 65 grains of RL22. I've haven't read much about them on-line but their pricing seems fair and they do an excellent job. So far so good!

Looks great!
Where are they located?
Corbett area.
That looks great and shoots great! I've seen them mentioned a little I think over on Rokslide, seem to do a really good job. How much beefier is that barrel versus a factory barrel? Congrats on the new rig! Also, any idea on who's barrel they start off with - Benchmark maybe??

Frank,

I’m not sure which barrel they use on their full replacements, for mine they used the factory barrel and wrapped it. They did a 3/4” OD on my barrel but I know they also do a 7/8 and 1 inch.

They did a 3/4” on one of my friends Tikkas and it shoots fantastic.
Thanks for the info Andy - thats interesting they can use your barrel. And they are only about 45 minutes away from my house, might need to give them a try sometime.
Thanks for the info
I’d say you got yourself an excellent rig for hunting...I had a thread months back asking why you don’t see more builds off the Tikka action. IIRC, aside from metric tooling a Smith needs, there wasn’t any reason not to build up from a Tikka receiver.

Yours looks and shoots great...Congrats!

😎
Looks like an awesome deal! Congrats. Great looking rifle.
curious about this now. How much stock work was involved in this? Did you do it? Was it a pre-fit and did they screw it on? I see 7 bills for a pre-fit, how much more did it take minus the fluting?

Calvin,

They used my factory barrel so I didn’t get a pre-fit...

$599.00 includes turn down, carbon wrapping, threaded for brake, brake install & reassembling. They sanded the stock to fit at no additional charge.

They offer a lot of other custom options for bolt fluting, Cerakote, stocks, ect...
Cool. Thank. I have a Kimber MT 300 wsm I want to brake. Hmm.
I'd like to see them be successful, especially a local shop, but given their qualifications and experience, I think they need more time to prove themselves before I let them touch my rifle. If you're willing to take a chance then go for it. Just ask a lot of questions upfront. That's about all that I want to say on it.
