Should be interesting to see how this pans out. Always been a 270 guy so might give one a try. A 165 ablr should have bc up there close to 175 ablr 7mm. Might inspire a fast twist 270 wsm for me as well as not sure want all that powder capacity

Looks good to me! .277" just might be the sweet spot for that case size.

That looks interesting.

For some reason, I want one.

Been a long time 270 fan and the WSM did not offer enough over the original. I am not blingy enough to own a Weatherby.

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to hearing more about this.

While it is cool to see the 270 in a new cartridge. But Almost 40 grains more to get 400 FPS with 150s. I don’t know if that’s worth it to “me”
To each his own.
I’m waiting for the 9.3 Nosler to get real elk medicine

I do not know if it is worth it, but pretty cool idea to bring out a super magnum in 270. Barrel burner for sure.

A 9.3 would be a great idea.

For me.
its just a matter of time before I have one.
Already have something like it.

I would like to have one too, I like my 26 Nosler!

Good looking round as is the 28 Nosler. Might just give the 270 Weatherby MK5s some future competition. Because with a 27 Nosler one can get 270 Bee performance without going to a MK 5 rifle format. Unless of course Weatherby starts offering the 270 Bee in the cheaper Vanguards...

Obviously besides Nosler, I would expect Christensen, MRC and other makers to offer the 27 Nosler sooner or later.

I've got no interest in the 27 Nosler for myself, but I'm glad it's here! This cartridge will push .277 bullet development.

As an added thought and as a competitive counter, I am wondering if Weatherby someday might offer a 270/300 based on the larger 300 Wby case and phase out production of the existing 270 Bee that has been around for about 75 years......The 6.5/300 is out and about. Might as well have a 270/300 and a 7mm/300 right along side the venerable 300 Weatherby................Keep the 257 Bee cartridge as is..............

Just a thought!!!

Hope it produces more fast twist barrels and more longer bullets. But I doubt that I will ever own one, possibly a 26 Nosler though. I will swap out for a faster twist barrel for my 270 WSM at some point to scratch that itch.

Per Nosler load data...
27 Nosler : 98.4gr total case capacity, 150AB @ 3.340" OAL = 89.9gr and ~400fps faster than 270win.
270win w/ 150gr AB yields 62.8gr capacity ... @ 52gr H4350 = 2782fps, 61.5gr MAGPRO = 2913fps
270WSM w/ 150gr AB yields 71.8gr capacity ... @ 60.0gr H4831SC = 2966fps, 68.0gr MAGPRO = 3187fps ... most accurate load 184fps faster than 270win, fastest load 274fps faster
270WBY w/ 150gr AB yields 79.4gr capacity ... @ 72.0gr RL25 = 3109fps, 70.5gr IMR 7828= 3207fps ... most accurate load 327fps faster than 270win, fastest load 294fps faster

So 27 Nosler gets me another 75-125fps over 270 WSM and 270 WBY options.

The real story here is that 277 finally gets bullet options for fast twist barrels with much better BC/SD/Energy/etc. like 264 and 284 options.

It will be interesting to see what other new developments that drives over the coming years!

Why go the the poor BC 277 projectiles when 26 are much higher BC and SD. This is gonna be a flop, I'm biased however as I had Melvin Forbes build me a 26. I feel for a light weight rifle the 26 is perfect but it still kicks like a 7mm mag...

I have to agree, I don't see it doing well at all. Outside of the .270 Winchester, most people just don't care about .277 cal cartridges.

Here's a .277" bullet with a BC of G1=.519.

These bullets get excellent reviews for accuracy, ease of load development, and performance on game.

...............Time will tell whether the 27 Nosler will be a flop or not...Depends on how Nosler will market it and if rifle makers (besides Nosler) start chambering it.....

There are many 270 or .277 fans out there. This will just add some more pizazz to the 270's,

I need to bring this back to the top for Dave whistle

Something going on with the 277 calibers, Winchester just came out with the 6.8 western. I prefer a 7mm over 6.8, but I know we all have our pet calibers.
