Anyone here got nay accuracy/performance results on the Fusion rifle ammo. I am looking 270 Win specifically.

I used 130 grain Fusions last year in my 270 Win. I was pretty impressed.

I killed coyotes, hogs and deer with the bullets, and had pass throughs on every animal taken. The largest was a 200 plus pound boar shot at a slight quartering near facing angle - the bullet broke the shoulder and plowed through the spine for a few inches and exited the ribs about half way back. He dropped, of course, and I saw no evidence of fragments. The bullet path was straight.

The bullets left fairly small holes on shots hitting bone, with bigger holes on soft tissue neck shots. I culled a bunch of does and shot a number of hogs. The bullets were accurate in my rifle.

I also shot this buck - he was quartering slightly away and the bullet took out his lower spine and broke the off side shoulder with a fairly small exit wound. Another DRT.



I was pretty impressed overall - I think they are a good choice for deer size game.

I'm sold on 'em. Last years deer took one quartering away, broke ribs going in, smashed spine, deflected downward, broke more ribs on the way out and then lodged in front shoulder. Yesterday, my buck took one quartering hard away, just in front of the lh rear hindquarter. Bullet penetrated diagonally through to the front shoulder, and I haven't found it yet. Recovered last years bullet, and while mashed pretty good, jacket was intact, and still weighed around 100 grains. Both of these were the 130gr .270. Will definitley use them again.

I used them in my .270 last week on a mule deer. First shot was around 250 yards and a required follow up shot occured at about 100 yards. Both bullets exited however neither struck bone. Accuracy in my old "beater" horseback rifle is right around 1.5" at 100 yards. I like the Fusions and plan on using them next year for deer once again.

DJTEX, I am here in Texas also. Couple of weeks ago I shot a Hog down in Charlotte with my .270 Win using Winchester Ballistic Silvertip. It was also a DRT type thing, but the price is right at Sportsmans Warehouse for the Fusion so I decided to give a look.

The Ballistic Silvertips, group about 3/4 - 5/8" from the bench out of my CZ550. Hope the Fusion's canb match that.

I expect you'll get good accuracy out of them, Red. I have shot them in 243 & 270 and had good results, and everyone I have known that has tried them has seen good accuracy and performance.

I have inlaws in Pleasanton who have a ranch down around Charlotte - small world.

I guide some down in Web, McMullen and Atascosa counties, but the buck in the photo is a Burnet County Hill Country low fence deer off a place where we run cows.

I have friends who own the South Texas ranches, but I just guide and kill hogs and does and culls down there - can't spend that kind of cash to hunt the big stuff.

Thanks, Keith. I was pleased with him - he is a great deer for a low fence Texas Hill Country buck, and not bad for most anywhere.

I am also trying to take nice photos - I'm a rank amatuer, but I am doing my best. Glad you enjoyed it.

I will try to post my results - I plan on using the Fusion in 270, 243 and 300 WSM this year, Lord willing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I'm thinking the 165's in the 300 WSM ought to be a death ray on deer and hogs, and will probably cut a coyote nearly in two (which is how I like them best! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />)

Darn nice buck! I'll be using Fusions in a 7mmWSM this year, instead of my 7mmMag. I'll be looking for a buck like yours! Season opens Friday here, can't hardly stand it anymore! Good luck!

I have been pleased with the meat situation - very little bloodshot meat. The bullets do not seem to really knock a big hole in the animals I have shot with them - it does not seem to expand too fast, and it seems that on shots through heavy bone that the bullets' petals may shear off and the core drives on through. The bullet paths seem to remain pretty straight from what I can tell.

I think JJHack had some results on larger, heavier animals that were not as impressive, but I think his view were that the bullets were excellent on deer size game. I don't think they are partition or TSX quality by any means, but pretty effective for deer. I wouldn't mind a little more expansion on some of what I have seen, but everything has been pretty dead so far...

One shot, one animal so far. I killed an big Axis this summer with a .270 130 grain Fusion, but the bullet never exited. I was trying to keep him from running down into a canyon, so I shoulder shot him. He ran, stumpled and did a flip. They are accurate in my gun and I have no problems with them. I used a 130 core-loct this weekend through both shoulders of a buck and it lodged under the skin on the far side. No blood trail, but the deer only went about 75 yards.

The Fusion 130 grain 270 Win. works the best in my NULA. I have tried eight other factory cartridges, and the Fusion gets asked to the prom due to its ACCURACY, cost and terminal performance.
