HAVE A 222, 22-250, 220 swift all with 14 twist.
What is a good hunting bullet thats lead free?
Guns used for predators out to maybe 250yds.
Looks like my state of New York will be going lead free in the near future.
Thanks

For a lead free ,224, in a 1-14 for varmints I'd look at a 35gr Nosler Ballistic tip Lead free or a 36gr Barnes Varmint Grenade also lead free.
The core is powdered tin/copper so they're much lighter than lead of the same length.

I shoot 55gr Ballistic tip lead free in a 6mmbr which works fine on varmints.

Monometal bullets like Barnes 45gr or 50gr TSX or Hornady 50gr GMX would work but are usually more expensive and the Hornady at least is discontinued.

7887MM08, is the lead free bullet effort back in legislation in NY? I know it failed a year or two ago.

We fought it in California and lost. I think you'll see it in many states in the coming years. The Enviro-whackos never give up and never give in. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.....

2023 on state owned lands and all others will be soon
The state pushing it in hunter ed so it’s just a matter of time

The Barnes Varmint Grenades shoot very well and do a good job on pests from my .222 Rem out to 150-ish yards.

It's a 1-16 barrel, though, so I'm using the little 30gr stubby potatoes. If I ever end up with a faster twist 22CF, I'll be trying the 36 or 50 grainers. The 30s are great at short ranges, but they drop like a brick past 125-150yds.

I've ran Berger 30 and 35 grains out to 250 yds pretty consistently out of the 223s...

The varmint lead free from Nosler and Hornady, same there....

once again, high volume shooting at Sage Rats...

200 shots are a short afternoon.... 500 to 600 is a fun afternoon.

powders used.. Blue Dot, Unique, SR 4759. Alliant Steel. among others...

they don't heat up the barrels much....

Be all land before they're done.
