Who's got one and how do you like it? I just picked one up NIB private sale. Mounted an old 3-9x40 Leupold Vari-XII that Leupold went through for me last fall and it's been sitting on a shelf. Ordered a BH209 breech plug that's due in tomorrow. Started with a Knight Wolverine back in the early 90's. It was very accurate and accounted for a bunch of deer but I hated the stock. I've been through a bunch of brands since and sold them for various reasons. I like the looks and feel so far. Hoping it shoots well.

Don't have a wolf, but I have an Accura mountain rifle. Most accurate muzzle-loader I've ever had. we used to sell the wolf at the shop I worked at. We sold a bunch, and I never heard anything but good from the customers.

I've had one for several years. I love it! Super simple. Great engineering. Accurate with a 3-9 scope. Light and handy.

My 14 year old son killed his first deer last November with it. Ended up buying one for him.

Can't beat the price!

My previous ML was a Knight. One before that was a Remington 700ML. Both need a tool chest to remove the breach plug and clean. PIA!

Can you tell I'm a fan of the Wolf?

Amen on the .45 caliber Wolf. They are great values now, but the way Wal Mart marks them down after the season is something to behold. Couple of years ago I walked by the gun counter of the local Wal Mart and they had a shelf tag listing the Wolf for $80. I asked the clerk if there were any more and she said she had just sold the last two.

You've got that right savage - with a 1:24 twist.

Curious, what's better about a .45? What diameter bullet?

The 10mm/.40 caliber Hornady XTP is an excellent deer bullet that has proven to be extremely accurate in every .45 caliber gun I've owned. I use Harvester 45/40 crush rib sabots for that bullet. It gives me a tad over 1850 fps over 100 grains of Pyrodex.

Also, just about any full bore lead bullet in weights from 350 to 500 grains, sized to .451 or .452 and shot over chargers in to 70 to 85 grain range with a felt wad between the bullet and powder give fine accuracy and knocks the snot out of deer and hogs. I've never hunted bear or elk, but if I did I would be a heavy lead bullet.

Here are two full bore bullets I use in my .45's. I get them from a guy on another muzzleloading forum who sells them at a very reasonable price and size them to either .451 or .452 as you choose.
