That’s a nice looking smokepole! Custom?
Thank you! Yes a Virginia style smoothrifle by the late G. L. Jones
Participating firearmes.
Grandson can really shoot that little perc. 36! He shot my smoothrifle this morning. Did real good!
Some gorgeous wood in those!
Son went back out this evening and killed a nice eatin’ size pig with that bottom in above pic. It’s a .40 caliber Tennessee style rifle. I figger the pig weighed about 20 pounds.
Special moment this morn. Had one of the grandsons with me. We were sneaking along and I spotted a bushy tail laying flat on a limb. I raised my gun and grandson is saying "what you see gramps". Where is he?"
I squeeze off the trigger and squirrel goes kerplop! I says "He’s right there Jimmy! Go get em!" 🤣
it dont get no better than that KayWoodie
Nice!
Are you barkin' 'em?
Thanks for sharing.
I can think of worse things than having kaywoodie for your grandad.😛
Sounds like a great day with your family, with some beautiful rifles.
Some nice ones there Kaywoodie. Squirrels ain't bad either.
Great way to spend a morning.
Good doings there! Nice to be out and about with flintlocks and youngun's
Limb chicken with smoke. Nuttin better! Except airguns do come to mind as a close second. No leaves, long shot for air, dope the wind.... Fun for sure. And good eating on top of that. Be Well, RZ.
Beautiful rifle, it doesn’t get much more American than hunting squirrels with a muzzleloader.
My firelock yesterday morn was a Virginia Smoothrifle. Shoots a ball about 20 to the pound. I was shooting about 80 grains of FFFG ( maybe a tad more). And same measure of mixed shot. Like 4’s, 6’s, and 8’s all mixed together. 😁
Old son’s Tennessee rifle is a .40. He had to bark one of the squirrels I shot and did a good job of it. Grandson Michaels littlw perc rifle is a .36.
What a nice family time hunt. Cools stories and pics!
Very nice! Thanks for putting up the pics.
