Love this little rifle!

.36 cal. Douglas bbl 7/8" AF. John Vincent style rifle. Just barely 8 lbs. Built by Jeff Kirklin in 1986. Was #1 of three prototypes for the old Golden Age Arms Co. Vincent kit.

Got this bag and horn I made several years back all loaded with new accoutrements and ready for the new rifle

It's a caplock for Chrissake...whaddya do, live next to the store so you can run out and buy caps to make it go boom? Absolutely beautiful workmanship by the way, a joy to the eyes.

Yeah I know!! Dang caplock. I’ve got enough caps to probably last me the rest of my life. It’s a pleasure to carry!!
At near 8 pounds..and maybe a little muzzle heavy..the ball goes into the target like radar guided I'll bet. I had a similar .40 for a number of years, not nearly as beautiful as yours, but such a shooter...of course, mine had a markedly superior ignition system. I rue the day I gave in and sold it.
It’s ok. I have like 11 flintlocks! 🤣. And only three percussion rifles with this one. The others I will not get rid of as they are special. A .50 GRRW 1/2 stock Leman rifle the wife got me when we were married (1979). And a really nice John Bergmann J&S Hawken style fullstock .54 I inherited from my old copanēro.

I know what you mean about .40’s. I had a Bedford 40 percussion for years and like a dumbazz I sold it. It was really nice. So I built me a little flint .40 "jäger” style rifle from parts I had laying around for about 40 years. I kilt a bunch of deer and hogs with that .40 Bedford!!! Turkeys too. Round ball kills. And I have no doubt I can take our deer here with this little Vincent rifle. With about 50 grains of FFFG it should sing!!!

Oh! I have an old Douglas XX 44" , 13/16 AF .40 out in the shop. Maybe i will build a little 1/2 stock flinter like
col. dodge had on the 1836 western Oklahoma expedition. That might be cool!
That old XX Douglas is worth it's weight in plutonium. 11 flinters...well, you just put my dick in the dirt. No more snark from this peanut gallery.
I wasn’t trying to brag or anything. Just thought it was time to try another percussion rifle. 🤣
Beautiful rifle. I'd take it squirrel hunting.
Very nice rifle! Even if it’s a cap lock. 😁
caplock or rock scratcher, dissing one over the other always seemed to me like thinking Raquel Welch was ugly because she wasn't blonde!
can't have too many of either flavor!
that includes redheads and blondes! grin
Thanks to all!

BH I intend to go after the ol’ bushy tails with it! 😉
If you ever get the foolish notion to sell that one,put me down as first in line !
