I have next to no 209 primers left and may have to switch over to my musket-cap breech plug and firing pin on my in-line. A local mom-and-pop has Cheddite 209s in stock and I am tempted. I've read there is a slight size difference between the European Cheddites and American 209s, but have read many reports that they work well in in-lines. Does anyone have any first hand experience with Cheddite 209s?

My rifle is a Traditions Pursuit .50.

Well, I bought 4 boxes of 100. The fit fine. They're the CX2000s which are supposed to be their hottest 209s. It was either these or going to musket caps.

Let us know if there is any big POI change from normal with them

Can't speak to cheddites in the in- lines I have used them in shotshells without any problems. The are supposed to be slightly larger than other 209s but I never had any problems loading. They are also said to be a little hotter than American made but if so I did not notice it in my trap loads.

Cheddite's are larger in Diameter. ONce I seat a Cheddite primer in a hull, I have to use that primer from then on. I use them in a lot of hulls.

It's tapered and does seem to stick out of the breech plug hole a wee bit more than a Winchester 209, so it does seem the diameter near the rim is a tad bigger. The action still closes fine and it still goes pop. Can't really tell if it's a more robust pop than the Winchesters or not. There's not a lot of reviews of them in muzzle loaders, though the few I've found are generally good, except for occasional size issues. There seems to be universal agreement about their quality, though. I'm glad to have found them.

I have used 100s of Cheddite primers in one Traditions and three T/C inlines. Their overall length is slightly shorter than std Winchester 209s. However I never experienced a FTF using Pyrodex, 777 or BH209. Charge volumes ranged from 80 to 100 grains. Also I did not experience any POI difference while usually similar powder charges vs. CCI or Win primers.

They are a tad shorter, but it seems a tad fatter near the rim. So they actually don't go in as far as the Winchesters. Looking forward to a little range time with them.
