So I finally got around to installing my new Lehigh breech plug in my new Knight Mountaineer. I bought it on the recommendation here that the Lehigh had a changable vent. When I took the stock breech plug out, I discovered the breech plug that came with the gun also had a changable vent. Is this new? I was under the impression it didn't and that the Lehigh was an upgrade.

Stock left, Lehigh right:

I also got an EGW rail and cheap chinese Bushnell Prime illuminated plex 3-9X40 scope in Warne GQ ring mounted.

I notice my scope is purple in the light. Wonder if its a super rare special addition I shopuld sell for $800 on eBay? laugh It sure does make for a colorful rifle.

The Knight vent liner plug wont come out without drilling it out unless there was a recent change. Similar vent liner but not the same.
Right you are, again. I just tried. It won't come out. Looks just like the Lehigh and I assumed it would come out.

I wonder why Knight make it like that? It's got a hex fitting on it.

Lehigh makes the plug for Knight but to their specs. Knight wanted the vent to not come out. Maybe because Savage and Mr Ball used it in the MLII plus safety concerns.
Wonder how they have it locked in. I put a lot of force on it and it wouldn't turn.

It's brazed in - or whatever sticks to stainless steel - I've got a couple older Knight plugs that have the excess showing.

Knight would prefer that you buy a complete new breech plug.

Green Top (Ashland) has Crimson Trace Bushline Pro scopes with the MZ reticle on sale for $139 - I'm going to try one.
