I have hunted with that bullet. 250 grain, .45 cal with sabot, in my T/C Impact. It's very accurate, about an inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards (1.5-6X scope) with 100 grains by volume Blackhorn 209. My son shot a mule deer at 200 yards last year which we are almost certain was a hit, but we found no blood trail and did not recover the deer despite an extensive search. (rifle sighted at 150 yards and he was on a tripod, holding for about 6 inch drop). I'm not sure it expanded at that distance. Muzzle velocity was about 1950 fps.

290gr over 80gr BH209 Knight Ultra Lite

Frontal shot from above at about 40 yards. Bullet lodged in spine. Found the blue tip while butchering.

Gave my supply to my son when I sold my Knight. He has the one I shot this one from.

He’s killed some with them, and also 300gr XTPs. They all work very well.

I shoot the 250 grain T-EZ over 80gr of B209 in my CVA Wolf. Accuracy is pretty decent, 1.5MOA-ish with a 4x32 scope, about 2.5MOA with the iron sights off the bench.

Haven't pasted a deer with them yet, but I've flattened a couple coyotes with them from the deer stand. Both through and throughs with exit holes about the size of a quarter.

I’ve tried the 250 version over 2 pyrodex or 777 pellets in two different T/C inlines. The bullets would touch at 75 where I zeroed the gun.

Coincidentally, the same bullet over 3 pellets shot huge patterns 🤷‍♂️.

Used that same bullet in an Encore Prohunter and CVA Apex and they shot beautifully. I don't remember the BH209 load it was either 80 or 90 grains by volume

I was running 300gr Thors. I thought something happened and they were shooting like 4-6" at 100 when I went to check zero last fall. Chased loads.

While chasing loads i stumbled upon a screamer.....and learned it was my scope not the load...i ended up with my 250gr Bushmaster Boattails in a yellow crush rib under a healthy bh209 charge.

I was pretty impressed by the hole it left in the coyote. I'd imagine the bullets are all pretty much the same between the 250s and upto the Thors as far as performance. The Thors did a number on an Ohio buck in 2020.

Now it's nice i can stock 1 bullet for the Encore and the 450 Bushmaster. The Thors went back to grouping nicely after the scope change. But the 250s shoot just a bit tighter.

I used the 290 grain version in a CVA Optima V2 with BH209 powder to take a 25 inch 4x4 mule deer in the Book Cliffs area of Utah a couple of years ago. The rifle shoots groups under 1.5" at 100 yds with it's best load.

The shot at the buck was at around 220 yds, and struck him behind the right shoulder and exited through the left shoulder breaking it. Both lungs were hit on the way through. The bullet exited leaving about a one inch hole.

It appears the bullet did expand due to the damage to the lungs. The deer went about 40 yards down a steep downhill and folded up. I would use the same combo again if given the opportunity, the rifle, scope, bullet, and load are illegal here in Idaho during muzzleloader season so I will have to wait to get drawn for another out of state tag.

Regards,
Manny

I have run the 250 gr TEZ over Blackhorn for a number of years. Haven't have found one in a deer yet as they all punch through but my longest with them was only 135 on a good sized buck. CVA Plains rifle groups them pretty good. The blood trails seem to start about 30yds or so after the deer takes off but they rarely make it much further.

I’ve heard great things about it

Me and both my sons use 250 grain out of our TC Prohunter and 3- 777 pellets, we’ve all had good accuracy and expansion on deer, most haven’t gone more than a short distance if any at all

He’s added two more clues to the evidence stack during the current VA ML season; one this morning.

I use the 250 grain TEZ in my Encore with 100 grains of Blackhorn 209. I’ve only shot 3 white tails with it. 1) shot a doe at about 80 yds and she went less than 10 yds, 2) 8 pt buck on a trot at about 50 yds, high shoulder shot which passed thru. On the shot he face planted into the ground and didn’t take a step after that. 3) doe at about 30 yds. She went about 30 yds and crashed.

Impressive bullet.

My shoulder hurts thinking about squeezing the trigger with 120gr Blackhorn 209, both powder and bullet sealed very tightly.

Ouch!!
