Mine from Top to Bottom:
50 cal Austin&Halleck Mountain Rifle
50 cal Thompson Renegade
50 Cal Thompson Treehawk
54 cal Thompson Hawken
A .50 caliber T/C Renegade flintlock and a .54 caliber T/C Renegade percussion that I put a GM .58 caliber barrel on. Love the .58.

OK . . . Here are three I have pictures of -

Custom .45 cal longrifle. Had it made so I could change the locks and switch from flint to percussion as I desired.
[Linked Image]

CVA Mountain Rifle, also .45 cal. Older "Made in USA" model.
[Linked Image]

Custom Leman .54 cal. This will be the grandson's when he is old enough to hoist and shoulder it - at this moment he's only 9 months old . . .
[Linked Image]

I have more, but these are the only ones I have pics of on PB . . . Also still working on a fullstock Leman in .58 cal.
Man Otter, that custom .45 is sweet!

Here's my J&S Hawken, an exact replica of a pre-1840 original that Don Stith has in his collection, built by John Bergmann this spring from Stith's parts. It has a .54 cal, 1-56" twist, 36" X 1 1/8" - 1" tapered Rice barrel, RE Davis lock, 14 1/4" inch length of pull on the maple stock, and weighs 10.8 pounds. The sights, of course, are non adjustable fixed buckhorn. Windage was dead on when I sighted it in. I had to file down the front sight some to get a 75 yard zero with 100 gr of FFg, a .530 ball, .018 pillow ticking patch lube with Trapper's Mink Oil. It balances extremely well, even with that long barrel, because of the taper to it.

ROMAC - The wood on that rifle is absolutely stunning. Never seen anything like that on a muzzleloader . . .

Cap - outstanding as usual . . .

BMR - cool Hawken, nice figure on the wood . . .

Traditional muzzleloaders always catch my eye and get a second (or more) look by me at any gun show or shop I visit. From the least expensive factory models to the high dollar customs by the many craftsmen who can do the great work, they are always like a magnet to me.
How do I load a photo?
Thanks for the compliments on the rifle, guys. I went through a couple of "Hawkens" - a Hastings Hawken made for Cabela's and a Pedersoli Rocky Mountain Hawken - thinking I was getting an accurate reproduction with each. Turned out that while they were very nice, they had several things that were not correct, so I ended up selling both (and luckily not losing any money). When I heard about Don Stith and his parts sets for various Hawkens, I just had to go with one of his. I still have a couple of T/C Hawkens, though, a .54 and one with a .58 Green Mountain barrel, and an early, USA made CVA Mountain Rifle in .50, all excellent rifles.

All Sweet Rifles.
My next rifle is going to be a .32 cal. I sure wish T/C still made those Cherokee and Senecas.
I bought this one from Bob Watts in Atlanta in 1977...It was a .45, I used it for a few years and had an encounter with a bear...I then made a .54 in the late 80s and converted the .45 to a .40...

Any new irons in the last 8 years? Post some more up guys.
My last addition. Virginia smooth rifle .62 cal by G L Jones.

[Linked Image]
Kaywoodie, What have you hunted with that one? Beautiful rig for sure.
Nothing yet. Only had one opportunity to shoot itso far. Hopefully that will change. However I have slain a number of hogs with my other fusil. A Centermark French Fusil de Chasse. I recently did some customizing on that gun, making it a bit more individualistic and to my liking!

New sideplate and triggerguard

Also a new swivel & stud! Finished new twined sling yesterday!!! Heres front swivel area.

Dang, you do own a percussion cap rig Kaywoodie!

Good looking rigs guys. Post some more up.
30338,

I have only two percussion rifles left.

Other is a Green River Rifle works Leman which was my wedding rifle. Had it since ‘79.

[Linked Image]
Hopefully, just mebbe next weekend I can punch a 54 calibre hole thru a hog with Gertrude!

[Linked Image]
For those interested, a close up of Gretchen’s lock conversion.

[Linked Image]
So that front piece pivots down and locks the hammer in the down position? Never seen something like that.
No , its like a safety. Kinda. Hammer just sets on top. It all pivots forward when you wish to fire. Just covers the nipple &cap
Wow, I’ve got a bunch T/C percussion guns, but nothing worthy of posting pictures of in this thread!
Beautiful firearms!

Killed most of my stuff with a T/C Renegade in muzzleloader seasons. Post a pic. Just nice seeing hammer guns.

Kaywoodie, Could you post a pic of that percussion rig cocked? I'd like to see what that forward arm does.
Sure!

Both positions. Just reworked the frizzen location!

[Linked Image]
Thank you sir, that is very interesting.
Yeah those craaaazy Germans. Gotta over-engineer everything. I’m sure at the time it was thought a great idea! Besides only rich folks could afford a rifle so what da heck! 🤣. Give em a cool gimmick.

Realistically. Such work, I imagine, was probably done in the infancy of conversions. Some smiths idea of trying to keep things safe
Dang, I sure love contraptions..............and Germans are pretty good at coming up with them!

Thanks for reviving this thread all y'all.

The receiver sight on this 45 caliber Hawken by TC aids in shooting accuracy for me! As long as I follow the old time ways, this flintlock never fails to ignite the powder charge.

Sherwood
Those Lyman peeps are pretty dang nice. Have one on my Renegade. What kind of critters have you shot with it?
Nice oid T/C Sherwood!!!

Gertrude again!

[Linked Image]
And yesterday I finally fabricated Gertrude a proper leather sling!

[Linked Image]
Very nice Kaywoodie. Hoping to post pics of the Hawken twins come December.
Looking forward to seeing them mounting rifles soon!!!!

Since my return from the mountings, I just can’t seem to get the chance to go afield! 😟.

I even set up my canvas diamond fly and sat under it for a while. Pleasant weather today!
trying to post a photo How do I get the dang things to into the post? I got it! even a blind pig...

PDS, fine looking rigs there. Thank you for posting those.
Don’t you just love a good fusil???? Great pic, PDS
Found a post on here from 2011 where I was looking for a left-handed Hawken. Its been a long and curvy journey but finally found one that suited me just right. This one will be a user for me for a long time. It is supposed to hit my doorstep tomorrow. 58 caliber and just what I wanted. Some youngster named Bergmann built it. And Kaywoodie helped me find it.

And this one pictured below is my 54 right-handed Hawken. Its accounted for some real nice deer over the years and is a very good shooter. It may not get as much time now.

It is a touch bright now that you mention it lol. Will have to try some stain or something on it.
don't stop now!!! need more so I can see what I really like before jumping in and spending 2 much !!
I don't actually own many.
I have a 50 cal Freddie Harrison the Freddie gave me a few years before he died, and I have one of my own, a 62 cal transnational American Jaeger.
I make them to earn about 90% of my living, so I seldom can work on any for myself.

If posting pictures of guns I have made for others is OK, I'll put them up, but of the rifles I have made, only this one is owned by me.

That was good!!!!
What kinds of muzzleloaders do you like the most?

I can maybe post pictures of what you like. I have made a lot of them over the last 50 years or so. I made my 1st rifle when I was 12, and my first muzzleloader when I was 13-14. I don't have pictures of many of them, but I do have some.
Got any big bore Jaeger pics Szihn?
