We have now taken 5 deer over the past season and a half, with the T7/ SST 250 combination. Overall, I am not thrilled with performance, and I've had some tracking jobs that have left me shaking my head. Accuracy has been great, but I am ready to try something different. After researching, I settled on Barnes spitfire T EZ 250's.
I love shooting my Omega. What I don't love is having to continually clean between shots, bust out a crud ring, and hope my ram rod doesn't snap before getting a bullet seated if I don't baby it. After researching, I went with BH 209.
So, before me sits a brand new jug of BH 209 and a 15 pack of T EZ 250's. This is a lousy day to have to go to work, I want to shoot!

I have a Knight Wolverine in .45 caliber that I bought a few packages of the 200 grain SSTs for. I've shot three or four deer with them and all have been an exercise in tracking.

I'm with you, but I'm a tad more limited due to the bore size.

You will be very pleased with the BH 209. I have shot as many as 30 times with my Omega without swabbing. That was with conicals though, not sabots. Also, be sure you know how to clean out the breechplug after a shooting session. Here is a link on how to do that:

I have shot over 30 times in both my Knight and CVA without cleaning with 120 grains BH209 and saboted bullets with no issues. The Knight handled the load a lot better hands down. Both on mine did not like anything that Barnes specialists offered for my guns and I talked to them personally at their facility. I want something better for my Knight then the SST, but haven't found it as of yet, but I am still looking, if only Berger made something in the long range hunter.....LOL

It does seem like the stainless steel is easier to clean and load....At least from what I have seen so far.

I have no complain whatsoever about how the SST's shot, extremely accurate out of my gun. If the Barnes shoot as well, I will be thrilled!

IME, if you use the same sabot that you used with the 250 gr SST you'll get the same accuracy with the Barnes. The only thing you'll need to do is dial in the powder charge.

That's what I found with my Omega. My Omega likes the the red Hornady High Speed Low Drag Sabots which are the same as a MMP 3 petal ez sabot.

Also the 250 SST bullet is a .452 diameter and the Barnes is a .451 diameter, so there is a little difference there and that is what through my guns out even with different charges and sabots. They just didn't like em.

Also the tail of the bullets are just a little different, and I figure that is why they didn't like my powder load as well, or multiple sabots, at least in my gun.

You're right about difference in diameter but .001" is negligible when using a plastic sabot. The difference in engaging the rifling is only .0005" on each side of a malleable or "mushy" plastic sabot. The tails are very similar and they're both a flat based bullet and again, the difference is negligible.

All I can say is they shoot the same in my Omega as long as I use the same sabot.
