Just rejoined the world of kinda-sorta traditional muzzleloading by winning this nice .54 cal TC Renegade on GB.

$225 including that dandy tacky-ass sling. Not bad. Still have some .54 roundballs in my stash, too.

Thanks, fellers.

In typical loony fashion I'm now contemplating a GM accessory barrel and an L&R lock, possibly flint. After all, I've got at least $10 worth of good English flints rusting(?) away in my basement.😱

I looked hard at that one on GB but ended up bidding on a Grey Hawk. Should be a good foul weather hunter. I just cant get into the inlines yet, love the old TC sidelocks. My next one will be a 54 renegade though BTW I live about 10 minutes from the L&R shop.

I had a Grey Hawk for over 20 years. Sold it like a dope when I wanted money for something else. Great little gun, but I struggled to find a bullet it liked. Ended up with Hornady 350gr FPBs. Just before I sold it, I tried, just for grins, a 250gr .45 cal XTP in a Crush Rib sabot. Only fired a few, but at 50 yards they grouped well and landed point-on; somewhat of a surprise given what I "know" about 1-48 twists.

To add to my sorrow, my Grey Hawk had the now rare and expensive TC Hunting Tang sight. There's a guy on Ebay that builds nifty mid-barrel peep sights using Williams parts. I copied his sights on a Low Wall .44 and was very pleased with how they worked.

Good luck with yours.

Ive got an old new Englander 12 gauge and picked up a tree hawk a few weeks . It shoots like a champ with 80 gr of pyrodex and a 295 powerbelt. I read somewhere that the grey hawks do well with hornady great plains bullets. Figured Id give em a try. Got a few new places this year that the muzzleloader would open up access for me to hunt. Hadnt hunted with one in a long time.

They are as close to an indestructable muzzleloader as you can get. The barrels from your other TCs should drop right in.

How's that No.1 working out for you?

That little 45/70 has turned into one of my favorites. I paired it with a JM 1895gs and for the tight places i haunt, they are perfect.

Glad to hear it.

The .44 mag Low Wall I replaced it with (at aboit twice the price!) is a favorite as well, as yet unblooded. Hope to correct that in November.

Mine has only shot paper and a bit of steel. Hadnt drawn blood yet though. Im hoping to had add a sharps to the herd after my house gets finished and finances get back to normal. Building a house is nickle and diming me to death and keeping me stressed pretty tight
