Anyone care to share some loads for CVA Optima V2.

I will not have time to change the breech plug out so no BH209.

Thanks in advance!

My buddy just started with muzzleloaders and bought an Accura V2. He shot 2 Magnum triple 7 pellets and a Barnes 250 gr. TMZ and the groups were outstanding. Good luck

I am curious why it would take so long for you to change breech plugs?
You can use BlackHorn with a standard breech plug even though the BH209 breechplug provides better ignition for powder.
With the quick release system changing breech plugs only takes seconds and powder is a heck of a lot easier to cleanup and more accurate for me.

Randy,

The problem wasn't changing the plugs I guess, but finding somewhere that had one in stock locally as I needed it for this weekend.

I did track a BH209 breech plug down locally; so I'll be shooting BH209, Barnes 250 TEZ, and CCI209M.

I just ordered a spare off Amazon pretty reasonably without shipping for me.
I shoot that same load in a Accura and kodiak and passed through a nice buck last year at 120 yds.

The gun shoots pretty darned good, i put 12 rounds through it last Monday morning. Mounted the Z3 in the DNZ and boresighted it at 25 yards. First three were 100 grains BH209 volume at 50 yards (upper right group). Then bumped up to 110 grains and shot five shots (bottom left group).

Then moved out to 100 yards and shot 1 sighter, adjusted my scope, and shot this 3 shot group.

Not bad for a $270 rifle.

Great shooting. Those are a little tighter than I am getting with 105 grains. I may have to try 110 out of my Plains Rifle.
Did manage to shoot a nice doe yesterday at 95 yds quartering on and the TEZ made a pretty big hole going in the way it clipped the ribs but no exit this time. Lungs were gone and she still ran about 75yds..

BTW GuideGun, make sure you have a pin vise and small drill bit for the breechplug.

GuideGun

Have you killed anything with that bullet? I have been using Shockwaves and been unhappy with their performance on deer.

I have not, this is my first year using a muzzleloader. I read a lot of positive reports online before making my choice for bullet. Picked them up down to Cabelas on black Friday.

I shot the doe this year and also a good buck last year with the 250 TEZ.
The buck last year dressed at 207lbs and was shot at 120 yds and was a pass-thru.
