Has anyone bought one and if so how is it working out? Other then the recommended PB 45 bullet what else is out there that should shoot thru this rifle? Thanks

Since it has a 1-22 twist the options are huge. Everything from a 460gr conical to a 200gr SST will shoot in that twist. Fury and Pittman both offer heavier 40cals too. A 250gr Fury or 225gr Pittman 40cal in a sabot should work very well. Thats just the tip of the iceberg though. Get a adjustable sizing die and a bunch of 45cal bullets have a great chance of shooting well.

I dont have the Accura but i do have several 45s in 1-20 and 1-22. They are very versatile and recent 40cal offerings are a game changer for the 45s.

I’ve been thinking about getting one, I’ve wanted a break-open .45 for quite awhile. I keep looking around online but I have yet to see them in stock anywhere. I like .45’s, I’ve got a Black Diamond and an Omega.

My dealer does not stock a lot of BP stuff anymore. He is a CVA dealer however and I will probably have to place an order for one.

CVA made a Accura 45cal years ago. Stopped making them around 2010 or about year later. They were a 1-28 twist though. The new one is a LR version only and of course the faster twist. The Paramount has already hit the dealers. Most probably sold out already.

Call these guys and see if they have a ETA yet for the Accura. I know they sold the first Paramount rifles they got.

It’s interesting how everyone made .45’s a number of years ago, then stopped, I guess for lack of demand. Now it’s making a resurgence in a fast twist.

My favorites are 1-20" .451 Whites. I particularly like their Shooting Star sabots with a 350 grain .40 cal pure lead spitzer.

There really is no need to wait if all you want is a break action 45cal. Just get a CVA Hunter or Scout V2 and convert it to a ML. Using a Hunter model it will be about the same price total as the new 45cal LR but you would have a 25" 1-20 twist. Then you will have a 45cal break action that can also handle lower end smokeless loads as well. 55-56gr of 4198 will smoke BH209 in speed and cost per shot. Thats not even a max load.

The gun i would wait for is a Accura MR in 45cal. Its been a hot topic but no confirmation yet. Less weight and nearly all the advantages of the longer range oriented options. ATM they are probably waiting to see how well the other 2 new 45s sell before it appears in a MR. The Accura LR in 45 is very likely heavier than the 50cal LR. Its over 8lbs iirc. Im pretty certain the weight specs you see listed are wrong.

I had to look up Accura MR to find out what the MR stood for, but I agree, that would be sweet.

Yes, the MR is lighter and the stock is different. Its loosely based on the CVA Apex but the receiver is alloy instead of steel. ML only too. The only negative is i don't think it is offered with open sights and the buttstock comb is probably a little bit high for open sight use anyway. Most of the people i know with interest in the new CVA 45s all say the same thing.......Bring it in the MR!!! It obvious why, its the CVA flagship break action and not everyone is looking for a 30" barrel long range rig. In reality you would be lucky to gain 100fps in the 30" barrel vs the MR's 25" barrel.

Is the additional weight and length worth it for most ML hunters?....IMO no its not. I would rather have a 7lb or less rifle that still has plenty of oomph at 200 yards. That is easily doable with a 25" 45cal fast twist.

I’m not lacking for muzzleloaders, I’m going to sit on the sidelines and see if CVA offers the Accura .45 MR.

That is basically where im at also. I would love a sub 7lb 45cal and my pockets are not deep enough for the new Knight 45 1-20 UltraLite. I have several 45 fast twists from just over 8lbs to about 11lbs and dont really need another one. Offer something i dont have and you got my attention. Woodsman offers the Patriot in a 45cal 1-24 but its also $900+. Pretty cool rifle and very very light but if im spending that much i might as well get another Knight.

I’ve looked at those before, I’m not crazy about the Euro style stock/forearm and given the list of manufacturers that have come and gone, I’m not thrilled with the idea of buying from a small player.

That forearm looks like it was band-sawed ox 2x stock and the edges rounded a little and that’s it. Kind of crude.

That action and barrel are not. I can fix the stock rather easily

It looks to be solidly built and it might be accurate but it’s way too crude looking for me to spend $900 on.
