Here's another one. I did the burl rosewood grips with Ruger medallions. The rosewood was oily, so I soaked the grips in acetone, turning the acetone pink. I got enough oil out of the wood that I was able to apply a Tung oil/urethane finish. The acetone removed the black background from the medallions, giving them a full sliver look, which goes OK with the SS gun. I think they look better without the black background.

I got this work done some years ago before prices went up. Dave's stuff is really top quality.

Dave set mine up for the 250 gr. Mt. Baldy SWC which I shoot over 45 gr. H-777.

I haven’t tried conicals yet
I will have to grab some

I find them more accurate than the round ball.

Nice one too there DF!

Thanks, gunner.

It's a pleasant shooting gun, not too far from a warm .44 spec or .44 mag with std, (not gunner level loads)... grin

Here's a link from Gunblasts, but with guest writers, not the usual old curmudgeon with a beard... blush

https://gunblast.com/Cumpston_ClementsFugett.htm

It'll whack a hog...

AND, it's not really a firearm.....

I really like that part. It's under the radar when they start picking up our guns.

It's a pretty mean "non pistol"..

LOL! Nice, I like the whole idea of the build, more lead is always a better deal ; ]

Unfortunately that level of custom work is pretty pricey today. Back a few decades ago, was much less expensive.

Before the conversion, I was out in my shop with my three year old son. He got the Old Army, was rolling it on the concrete floor. Sorta left his mark on the cylinder.

He’s now 40 with a family. He’s the one I was visiting in NW AR when I dropped in on you in SE OK.

Didn’t realize how long ago that was until I was thinking back about it.

Time does fly, especially when you having fun.

You bet DF, I gave my Ruger 45 Old Army to a very deserving older Gent that had some of his black powder revolvers stolen, if not for that, I'd send it in to Clements for a conversion, to buy one now, then have it converted would be much to cost prohibitive.

And Yessir! it do fly! ; ]

IIRC, which is getting harder and harder .... blush

The prices back then were about half today's prices

I'm sure you're not having memory problems; you're way too young.

Not remembering what wifey told you to do doesn't count... wink

That's more selective hearing imparement than a memory issue...

My gently-used specimen landed today. Gonna content myself with .45 Colt standard loads from a Howell cylinder. 900fps with 250gr bullets is doable, which is plenty.

That it is. Not quite a full .50 cal but close enough, I guess.
