As an aside, White's Garage in West Ossipee had quite a gun shop back in the 1960's.

Anyone remember the machine Slim Pickens rode in the George Attla movie โ€œSpirit Of The Windโ€?

No, but I remember this:

Im pretty sure Bucky Winkley had on in rainy pass,His father Mark Winkley who lived in Ossipee N.H. used to come to a bunch of old engine shows in a souped up model T. We usually have a big antique snowmobile meet here in centeral N.H. but the pandemic screwed it up. There are usually a dozen modelT and model A snowmobiles that show up. Virgil Whites snowmobile wasn't the first Alvin lombard was the first with a patent in 1901. His first machines were steam powered, the later ones were gasoline and one Diesel.Heres a few pictures of my early gasoline Lombard Tractors, snowmobiles.Heres my Diesel lombard with my 1949 tucker snow-cat in the background.

So that is where Fred Astaire's vehicle idea came from in "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".

I knew a guy who had some kind of old GM military thing, like a big panel wagon half track outfit with skis on the front. He was in the middle of an LS swap, no idea if he finished it or not.

Model T aftermarket skis were pretty common . The American Pickers bought a set a few years ago with a brief history lesson.

All the North American snowmobile manufacturers were in the east--where the snow is a LOT more dense. I can remember in about 1967-68 when Artic Cat came out to Grand Mesa to test their new sleds. They spent most of their time digging them out of that Champagne Powder!

The first good "mountain" snowmobile was made by Chaparral in Denver.

Near Sacramento is the "Best Machinery Museum" which has a couple of the Fordson snow tractors. It is one of the very best museums I've had the pleasure of touring. The number of unique implements, tractors, and vehicles was delightful.

The Original Snowmobile had a prop.

We had two of these growing up. They will go through anything no matter how deep it is.
