It's looking like I may have to buy the pistol I've been wanting from the lower 48 and have it shipped here, I will need to use an FFL to make it happen so who do you guys recommend?

Where are you?
Posted By: WMR Re: FFL - who do you use? - 05/03/21
I'm not an Alaskan, but Gunbroker has a list of transfer dealers which is searchable by zip code. Just click on the heading BUY and then go down to Tools for Buyers to find this feature. Of course thousands more options are not registered with GB, but this is often a good place to start. It also usually tells what each listed dealer charges, which can help decide which one to choose.

I just checked and GB lists more than a dozen transfer dealers within 15 miles of your location. I apologize if you only wanted a personal recommendation, as I cannot give that. Best wishes.

Arctic ammo off Palmer-wasilla. Charge $10 bucks to do the transfer. I think gun cache in eagle river is fairly cheap as well.. Also 3 bears in chugiak will do the transfer as well (well last I heard they did)

No worries, I just want someone that's convenient and hassle free.

Brad at Eagle River gun cache is close and meets all those criteria.
Arctic Ammo is further away, but cheaper.

Does he have a store or does he work out of his home?

I'm wondering, can he order a handgun since he has a storefront? I'm having a helluva time finding a SA XDM 10mm with the 5" barrel.

We asked about those last time we were in the store. He just laughed. Those are pretty much unobtanium right now. Springfield isn't making them at the moment.
As another dealer told Dan, "it's on the shelf right between the fairy dust and the unicorn tears.

Another vote for Arctic Ammo.

Gallery of Guns lists FFLs that work with them. Might be worth a try.

Actually, I know where I can get an XDM in 10mm with the 4.5" barrel but that's not what I'm looking for at the moment, might have to suck it up and buy one anyway.

Appreciate the offer but I'm looking at keeping it under $700.

Brad is a good guy to know anyway. Actually, lots of good options in and around the ER.

My FFL is special, and I can't share his info. Sorry...

Somewhat "related" question......What FFL dealer in the greater Anchorage area has "fairly" reasonable consignment fees, for selling firearms.....???

Would prefer a sliding scale. Like "X" percentage amount for the first $500.00 and a lesser amount "percentage" for the balance.

Thank you.

LMAO- You guys are buying $1,000 toys and gonna stress about $10-20 FFL fee?

But do find out all costs in advance - those $1,000 holsters gotta be nice...... smile

I've been using Peter Green in Chugiak (North Birchwood Ext.), for years. Super good guy, hassle free transaction, and only charges $10 if your a member of the BW shooting park or if your AD.
Posted By: kk alaska Re: FFL - who do you use? - 05/09/21
AGL ER Gun Cache charges 15% for consignment which is at the lower end some in Anchorage are higher.

Thanks.......we have a lot of stuff that needs sold. It seems that in Anchorage most shops are 20% but some are 25% or even a few at 30%. Which seems strange given that they can't get new inventory.
