...SKILAK GLACIER DAMMED LAKE RELEASING...
On Friday October 1, Skilak Glacier Dammed Lake began releasing. The release will cause a slow rise in water levels on Skilak Lake and the middle Kenai River, cresting around bankfull levels after Oct 5th.
Residents and river users between Skilak Lake and Sterling should be prepared for unseasonably high water.
As with any glacial system, there is uncertainty. Check back to weather.gov/Anchorage for updates on crest stage and timing.
Damnit! When I was on the middle river last week it was looking perfect. Gravel bars were starting to get exposed and the channels were forming. It’s not the end all for trout fishing by any means as now all those dead sockeye will get washed downstream, but I prefer the low water this late in the season. It’ll take weeks for it to come back down.
The upper will produce nicely…
Wanna go before the ship gets wrapped?
A beautiful morning up here......CLEAR and STILL
CLEAR to your ass and STILL snowing.
Sounds like the surfing isn't going to be worth going for, however?

Sunny and 47* above here in Paradise, Alaska. No snow, but the yard is "FULL" of Grizzly Bear [bleep].
