Speaking of (non-Federal) weasels - I was putting tools away just before coming in out of the yard tonight, when a half-grown ermine came running across the driveway. Dog went after it, but I yelled "no", and damned if she didn't stop, with the little critter already in her mouth, not yet crunched.

She dropped it and away it went - not even a little stink.

No camera of course, but after being dropped, Ermie ducked into the woods, then recrossed the drive farther down (dog went after it again- same scenario). My wife heard me yell at the dog and was looking out the window for the second crossing, so I have a witness. So there!
