Old thread here is gone, but my buddy that killed a big bear with Mike Muncy last year, stopped by this morning.

IIRC, he said the official score on the skull was 30-4/16". He may go out to Reno in July, hasn't decided yet. Cabela's shipped his skull out there some time ago, if not mistaken?

He said they ranked it as the biggest bear taken around Kodiak in the past 30 years.

That is a huge skull and is one I will look forward to seeing. Skulls over 30" are rare and have only come from Kodiak and the Peninsula.

A 30" skull is just plain unreal...

Come on Phil, you can't post a pic of a bear that size and not tell us how it went down. Tell us the story please!!

I remember a pic on here of a monster bear and it's head was propped up on a propane tank and it was as wide as the tank was long. I wonder if that's the same bear?

Yeah Phil please give us some details on that bear. I guess I am ignorant but I honestly did not realize any bear had broken 30". Yowza! What is the record for Brown and Polar?

30-12/16" for Alaskan Brown B&C, 29-15/16" Polar B&C, 23-10/16" Black B&C.

29-3/16" Alaskan Brown P&Y, 26-10/16" Polar P&Y, 23-3/16" Black P&Y.
