WVU is in Fairbanks to shoot against the #8 rated Mississippi on Saturday and the #5 rated UOA Nanooks on Sunday. It can be followed on http://results.megalink.no/#/

Received this email from Jon Hammond, the WVU coach. Some folks were asking about NCAA smalbore and scholarships.

Hi Butch, hope all is well with you too! My wife had our twins (boys) end of Nov, so we have still be adjusting to everything!!

As for your question, I think its been pretty stable for the last 5 years, maybe the odd one has been dropped but there is always a little talk of some being added.

The official number is probably still low 30s, but there should be a full list at www.ncaarifle.org

Scholarships have always been 3.6 for each team so that number has been constant, and will only go up and down depending on teams being added or removed. Although some teams may not be fully funded at the 3.6 limit.

Its cold with us too! Had plenty single digit weather, and today we left of Alaska so then we’ll really find out what cold is! Scheduled to be down to –20s at the weekend up there!

Ok take care,
Jon

Jon was talking about the number of NCAA rifle teams.Jon is a very nice and kind young man from Scotland. He is also a shooter on the UK olympic team.
Go Mountaineers
WVU won today. Tough match tomorrow.

1 West Virginia 2340 2378 4718
2 Ole Miss 2322 2347 4669
Excellent!
Should be a good one.....go Nanooks! On a side note....just learned that MIT actually has a Rifle team. Who'd a thought that such a thing would be allowed in Massachusetts.
The Nanooks have 1 very good rifleman, but the Mountaineers prevailed 4719-4649.
Good for WVa! Any of that team ever come to Colorado a train at the Olympic facilities?
I can find out. I'm sure that Ginny Thrasher trained there before she won the Gold in the last summer Olympics and Will Anti lived there and his Dad is a Rifle coach at the Air Force Academy.
