I am just miffed because I was getting ready to launch the "Annual They Are Out" hoax thread!

This is the first year that I didn't put in for sheep but I turned 78 today so I hope I can be excused for not contributing.

I did put in for a bison and cow moose tag in the neighborhood but after helping with 8 big animals last fall, I'm not all that
anxious to draw.

Cranes have begun to occupy much of my fall as grouse are about extinct up here.

It all depends on which source you use on the ADF&G website. There are several different places. One even says noon.

I've been thinking about putting in a proposal to have Lake Trout on a draw tag. smile

Too much riff-raff in the fishin hole!

Segregate, don't limit.

Riff odd days,

Raff even days...

😀

Great idea that could be applied to other outdoor ventures.

I don't worry about the hook and line folks. It's the Personal Use gill net fishery
that constitute the bulk of riff-raff.
Posted By: cwh2 Re: D-day - 02/19/20
Wait... I can gill net lake trout? Thanks for letting me know about this pillaging opportunity that I have been missing out on!
Posted By: VernAK Re: D-day - 02/19/20
Whitefish are gillnetted in the fall......lake trout being the by-catch
Posted By: cwh2 Re: D-day - 02/19/20

Probably right. Going to be some seriously huge goats taken out of that area.

They know that there is at least 1 world record. Adfg fought to keep it closed, but finally some sanity at the bog. Two tags won’t hurt a thing.

Good on that one, Joel!
By this time I could have had 30 plus 9' bears under my belt on Kodiak. That is, if I had ever had anything but 0 for 30 (closer to 40) years of my typical draw luck. Deer tags do not a brown bear make wink

What are the odds? Haha
Posted By: Ducksanddogs Re: D-day - 02/21/20
I guess I applied for too much stuff because I’m seeing the 3 tags I won and I can’t even remember which ones they are!

DI403, DS102, and DM410.

I know it’s a sheep tag and I think the only moose tag I put in for was one of the valley antlerless tags. Put in for sheep all over the state!

Time to check the supplement and see what they are!!

DB254? You beat me to it. I was there on a fall hunt a couple years ago with a hunting partner (his tag). He took an old sow. I may be able to answer a few questions when you get around to planning.
Posted By: VernAK Re: D-day - 02/21/20
Nothing here but I've already gotten three calls from bison and sheep tag holders that want to stage from my house.

Yeah I’m just jerking chains.

I only drew the DM410. My fingers had been practicing typing the other two for the last three months so I guess they did it out of habit.

Pretty excited to get that DM410.

The bulls I have seen in there always seem to be in miserable access areas... hope you have a herd of sherpas!

For the hay flats antlerless tag?
Posted By: Sitka deer Re: D-day - 02/22/20
Did not realize that was a flats tag... thought it was the mountainside. Have seen some big bulls way high there...

Good luck!
Posted By: Ducksanddogs Re: D-day - 02/22/20
It is the Knik tag so I guess it’s a little of both.

Looking forward to it. Hoping it’ll be a good opportunity to fill the freezer and then focus on waterfowl!
Posted By: cwh2 Re: D-day - 02/22/20
Fish on!
Posted By: MuskegMan Re: D-day - 02/22/20

Drew Berners moose tag, again!!! 2 times in the last 3 years. This is a <1% draw probability.

Better to be lucky than good is my motto. grin smirk grin

Would have prefered the DS 102 or 103 tag (ain't that lucky)

Yup, I know the feeling. Glad I drew what I did but man I was hoping for a tok tag.
Posted By: Hudge Re: D-day - 02/22/20
I finally drew a tag for once. I drew DM424. Hopefully I can score on one.
Posted By: Sitka deer Re: D-day - 02/23/20
Idahopro has drawn a significant tag four years in a row!

He should start offering his services as a good luck charm and selling places as a party drawing partner...

Check with CWH2... he can tell you all about how to kill a moose in the most difficult way and place possible, under the nastiest conditions in the unit!
Posted By: cwh2 Re: D-day - 02/23/20
Sweet. That's a fun tag. Call if you need help packing one out.

Editing to add.... Yeah, i have a "good" spot for the later hunt, 427. Mr. Bill drew it this year so will hopefully be poking around late in the year. 3 schmidt-shows is not nearly enough.
