Some of you know that I was in the finishing stage of a Campfryer book. I received the proof copy in the mail today. A proof copy is a pre-production book that is checked for completeness, cover quality, etc.

It was a bittersweet day. Dad and I discussed the book earlier this year at his birthday party (he was a leap year baby) and he was waiting to get a copy. Sadly, he left us the first week of May. One of the first edits was changing the dedication page.

From here, I send the the official approval, order some copies and it will go into print.

It is a collection of humourous and serious stories. My outdoor poems are sprinkled throughout. Some of the stories were posted here. A few stories were inspired by 24 Hr Campfire members. Virtually all are about hunting, shooting and the outdoors.

The finished product is 6x9 format, 251 pages, glossy, colour cover. Price - $16.95 USD. It will be available from me, signed, or through amazon. Paypal for those of you in the US.

If you have any questions feel free to post them here, PM me or email me at [email protected]

Mr Redgwell,

I look forward to hours of enjoyment paging through your stories.

Please PM me an address to which I may forward funds in the form most appropriate.

As a fellow fan of the remarkable, and astonishingly appropriate for many types of "work", .303 British I enjoy your tome covering that subject. The newest will no doubt be just as pleasurable a read.

Geno
Hi Geno!

Yes, the 303, in one form or another, keeps me busy, despite the world's attempts to kill it off. The 308 was a knockoff of the 303. They had to raise the pressure and have some militaries use it, but it was still a failure. Mind you, it's difficult for the 308 to compete with 130 years of the 303's success.

I rebarreled a No 4 for the 30-303 book, and have ordered a 30-303 barrel from MGM to try with my Encore. The 303 lives on. The 308 will probably fade from use. laugh

Next week, I will post an update about the 24 Hr Campfryer book. We have a civic holiday here on Monday, so I have to wait a few days.

All the best, and thanks!

Your Dad is proud of you and I will be buying an autographed copy of your book later his year if available. Loosing a good parent hurts and I am 70 and hate being and orphan. I always enjoy your posts and I am sure the book will be good.

One of my favorite books is and old " Herter's Bull Cook Recipe's". I may have butchered the title, I dig it out once in a while for a stroll down memory lane.
1Akshooter,

Thanks for the kind words. Dad and I laughed about how COVID messed things up for many people. For us, and many other families, we couldn't be with him at the end. We were not allowed in the hospital. Just his wife. In August, the family is having a get together in his honour.

Enjoy the holiday Steve,

Revel in the news that HOCKEY is BACK! Well,, a form of it at least. No fans. I've got two games set to record so I get to see if I want to continue this season after watching a bit. I may not be able to take it. You Canadians should be proud and happy that the NHL put the playoffs in CA cities.

I look forward to seeing the book when I can get my hands on one.

ps, condolences on the loss of your father.

Thanks Geno. I just got back from my trailer. I have some work to do at home. It's strange to think of the NHL this time of year! laugh

I think my Dad will see it, but I won't get to see his reactions to some of the stories.

All the best!

Steve, I'll take a copy when they come out. Always enjoy your posts, so the book should be much more of the same. So sorry for the loss of your dad. Just because we know it will happen doesn't make it any easier. Peace to you and yours.

Just ordered one.
Your name works on amazon but not the book title
Thanks! I think you are the first Amazon order.

I believe the book title doesn't come up because it just went live today.

Goodness Gracious,

the man shoots a .303 British............a lot.............

At least it seems he knows what a "Kindle edition" is, so he's not a total Luddite, like me.

And he's in Canada. Do they have Kindles there?
We have Kindles up here, but they are steam driven!
