Missing seals on Hodgdon containers

I found some Varget that has the newer plastic cap, and the foam seal in the cap. But no seal on the bottle itself. A friend checked some newer IMR and Hodgdon powders, and some were the same. A foam seal in the cap, but none on the bottle. Others, had a plain non-printed seal on the bottle, in addition to the foam seal in the cap.

Been awhile since I've used Hodgdon, but all of it had metal caps and seals on the bottle that read, "Sealed for your protection" along with the foam seal in the cap. I bought a lot of containers that way.

Is Hodgdon just not putting seals on the containers these days, or at least not consistently?

They quit using the metal caps and foam seals on the caps a while ago. I have yet to notice any difference in powder performance.

Thanks John. I understand that the metal caps have gone away, but you are saying that foam seals in the caps have also been eliminated. But, do they still seal the container?

I recently bought an 8 pounder of H4831sc. While there was no seal on the cap itself, once the cap was removed there was the typical foam seal / cap liner in place attached by an adhesive.

They have been like that here for a while now.

I recently opened a new 1 pounder of Ramshot Big Game and was surprised that there was no seal. To be fair, it's been quite a while since the last time I opened a pound of Ramshot powder and I don't recall if the earlier one had a seal or not.

I called them when I first bought a couple with no seal... was told by their customer service, that they found out there was no real need for the seal, so they unceremoniously stopped putting them on the containers...that was probably a year or more ago...

Yeah no need for a seal....until you discover FedEx mishandled the package and spilled a good amount of your powder inside. Then you call company and they say if it were more than we could file a claim.

Is it dangerous to shrink wrap seals on gun powder bottles? I wish they would do something to let us know that nobody has screwed with the powder in places it sets out where people can get to it. There are some crazies running around. At Cabelas, anybody could take a top off and mix powders.
