Some years back, "dump pouches" for rimfire ammo were available (Uncle Mike's comes to mind).
A soft, but thick and stiff fabric, with a belt loop, and at least one brand with a velcro closure.
AFAIK they've been discontinued. Hoping I'm wrong, and someone can point me in the right direction.

There are many shotgun shell bags that could work. I like the ones with spring steel lids. My Orvis vest has these and they are pretty convenient. There is a full range of these with some single and some dual compartment.

The pouches I'm referencing are maybe 3" long, 1 3/4' wide, and 2" deep. IIRC.

I like dump pouches. If you try home made use a length of tape from a worn out tape measure. Put it in a slot across the mouth of the pouch and sew it in making a channel. when you open the mouth you can get the ammo and when you let go it snaps back. Maybe you don't like making things. Yes. I have one on a 2” black web belt (an old Cabelas 25 round shotshell holder that sucked). As long as you don’t try and overfill it, it works great!

Sounds dimensionally similar to a USGI hand grenade pouch, but those usually have snaps or fastex buckles rather than velcro closures.

The link I provided is a little different than the pouch on Amazon. The Amazon pouch is fixed and the pouch in the link is a Velcro style loop that is not fixed. I have each and the work equally well. The Amazon version is what I have on a 2” belt.

Just noticed the difference and wanted to let you know.

Scroll through the pictures. It says it will hold 100 rounds of .22 LR and fits a 1.8" wide belt.

I could see making some nice hand tooled rigs like these.
I'm a little bit more fussy on the finish however.

K1500, I'm trying to get away from plastic - the ammo rattling in the boxes drives me NUTS in the pasture!

Take a look at the MTM ammo wallet. I have several for .357 with no rattle. The rounds snap in and out and they are really nice to carry. I believe they make a .22 version.
