Any leads a nice leather carrying strap, sling?

All I use it for is carrying and it doesn't need to be anymore complicated than a simple quality sling... No ''cobra'' headed or padded slings are needed...

Thanks !

In the 70's and early 80's Remington supplied a simple 7/8" leather carry strap with their 700 bdl's. Not very fancy, front end had a brass screw nut with flathead both sides. It came set up with Uncle Mike's style quick detachables on both ends. The butt end had a buckle for lengthening or shortening the sling to fit and a leather loop slider to keep it in place at the rear swivel. Today you have to hunt for them, they are hard to come by, look at the used leather box at your lgs or at pawn shops. Most don't comprehend how simple and good they are so 5 to 15 will get you one when you find them. For a new sling / carry strap it's pretty hard to beat Pat Sinclairs " Montana sling " out of Glasgow ,Montana. He is aka "Scenershooter" on here when he posts here anymore...mb

This in spades!!! I've looked for a better sling and haven't found it yet. The slip cuff/knot is the easiest to adjust and holds in place. The only thing I'd say to make it better would be to do something about it making it stay more positive on the shoulder. Best sling out there....

Recently bought one, great quality!

I have one of the Montana slings and have carried it a lot. It got to where the knot was slipping all the time so ended up just cutting it off and lacing the end in place. Still an excellent sling. Simple, good looking, and durable.
I agree with the assessment of the old Remington slings. They worked great. Sadly, the leather quality wasn't all that great, and they will wear out. Make the same strap of good leather and it would be great. GD

Ron Brown makes a excellent M1907 sling that is not only useful for carrying, it's useful for shooting too.

Eric Hollis too.

Huh! My old 700 BDL came with that strap on it (bought used) I Didn't realize it came from Remington.

Thanks for that info Magnum Bob.

I purchased a 700 adl in 1978; it didn't come with a strap.
Maybe something the vendor added?

Excellent carry straps (slings) can be made from good quality leather belts with the above mentioned brass flathead screw nuts. I bought several good belts from the Amish near me. I wish I knew how to post pics.

I like a Whelen sling. Works well for carrying and if you need to it's an excellent shooting sling but not as complicated as a full-on military sling.

The strap was not supplied with the ADL model; only the BDL. GD

Brownells Latigo sling is my favorite.

I don’t remember what site it was but in searching EBAY I found some very near the Remington version. The Montana is a nice but slightly heavier version. I have a couple of each and use them both.

This one. Attach it with the loop end at the butt, and it works well as a shooting sling too

No ADL's weren't equipped with factory sling swivel studs either. Only a BDL deal...mb

+1 on the Remington carry strap, I've used one for many years. Yowsa some of the slings being mentioned are P-R-I-C-E-Y ! Look around the next gunshow, Remington carry straps can be found for $5 - $10.
