I dismantled my Mod. 121 down to removing the foregrip and cleaned the rifle thoroughly.

I'm left with a small metal clip appx. 1-1/2" long x 1/8" wide with a lug that obviously engages something in the bolt carrier system.

Can anyone help me how to get this old beauty back together?
Try looking at numrich arms online they may a schematic you can look at.

Or get a Remington parts list out of the stuff you should have kept in the box it came in? Might not tell you how to put it back in, but you will know where it came from. might be able to find online.

The Remington Arms website has a section that offers the owner's manual for any firearm Remington ever offered, even those that are now obsolete. They are free for the asking, just make your selection, fill in the blanks and hit submit.
Probably the cartridge container, it falls out when you take the 12/121 apart.

Kinda a weak point on that rifle.

It should slide in between the between the barrel and mag tube IF I remember correctly.

Two different styles, early and later model. Your 121 should take the later model.

Wisners INC. has a drawing under Remington pump rimfire rifles on their web page.
Thanks Gibbs,

I located a schematic on the Numrich website, but the diagram wan't helpful. The part is called "Cartridge Retainer".

Stayed up literally all night trying to get the retainer to stay put but it just kept falling out, no matter what configuration I tried.

Remington's website for obsolete manual requests didn't have a "Submit" button for the manual request.

Perseverance solves most problems so I'll keep on trying. Thanks again!
It is there, you just need to find it. The Remington website is a bit confusing, I'll admit.
I can't picture the part but would a small dab of grease help keep the part in place? I collect .22s and have a couple of 121s. I really enjoy shooting one of them, the other appears to be unfired and is 99% condition. (No box or papers) Sorry, I forgot which forum I was reading, I'm not a gun writer.
I'm having the same problem with mine. How did you get the cartridge container back in?
brucekopetz,

Resist the urge to use a hammer. I did the same thing(taking it a part) with a Model 12C and it's been at my 'smiths for almost a year. These old rifles had some handfitting.

This site has a good schematic and some directions: stevespages.com

It's not me.
