Anyone know about this one?

I vaguely remember it as a mauser import from 40 years ago. BSA? Interarms?

Looks like a Parker-Hale possibly.

Thanks for refreshing my memory - Looked up Parker-Hale in the Blue Book of Gun Values, and that seems to point to a Parker-Hale 1200 Super.

By the way, if anyone wants a P-H in 6mm Rem, I can lead them to the above pictured one (not mine). It's for sale locally for $300. Seems like a good candidate for rebarreling!

That is a good buy.

It is a good buy - I just don't like the old Mausers because of their weight, and the 6mm Rem is just enough of an oddball cartridge that I don't want to mess with it.

Wow, that's actually a pretty good deal. Nothing wrong with Parker Hales.
I'd shoot it.

Good guns, underrated. I refinished the stock on this one for a friend, recut the checkering. It's a .300 WM and a good shooter.

If not a Parker, could be a BSA CF2.

edit
IT's not a CF2 or a Monarch, stock is wrong.

I must love odd ball cartridges having had 6 6mm's. I still have two. I believe that the 6mm is the best varmint cartridge. (I also have a 256 WM, and a 350RM. And a few other odd balls. Is that 6mm Parker Hale as nice as yours? If so I'm very interested.

The BSA also had a different action - a BSA proprietary design.

I think Herters sold them back in the day.

The OP's gun is a Parker Hale, Eastern European Mauser action, put together in Birmingham, England.

It looks llike a PH 1200. I had one in 270, years ago.

Santa Barbara (Spanish) Mauser action. Solid performer.

DF, what's the finish on that rifle? Nicely done.

Thanks, it did turn out nice.

After good wood prep, I filled the pores with Custom Pro oil (tung oil/urethane) from Brownells, by wet sanding the Pro oil in circular motions with a small piece of 400 grit. I worked it into a slurry, let it stiffen up a bit, then wiped the excess cross grain, let it dry 24 hrs. and repeated.

I finished filling the pores with around 10-12 coats of Tru Oil because it dries faster. I steel wool between Tru Oil coats.

Then I recut the checkering.

Last two coats were with Pro Oil, wiped with a single ply of blue shop towel. The Pro Oil was worked out of the checkering with a tooth brush right before the wipe.

That last wipe is a secret, learned from a master.
Pro Oil is a harder finish than Tru Oil, just dries slow.

Voere ?
Posted By: Moby1 Re: Mystery rifle - 04/24/16
That looks for all the world like my Parker Hale. I bought it on an impulse and converted it from .308 to .257 Roberts. The only downside is the weight. The new Shilen barrel on it shoots very well. Like most of my rifles, I am the weak link in the accuracy equation.

I owned a few 1200s. The last was a 270 Win. I never liked the look of the spacers or the gloss. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but all my rifles are either matte wood or polymer dull finish.

The 1200 series, and there were a number of them including the Super, Super Magnum, Varmint and Super Clips were created with the US market in mind.

In Canada, we used to get Sakos, PH, Voere, Midlands and a number of other Euro rifles much cheaper than what you guys in the States were paying for them. In some cases, the US has import duties or taxes or something tacked onto the cost.

When the US and CDN dollars were about par, we were paying 20 to 30 percent less retail, for European rifles and accessories. Primarily, because of no tariffs.
