Reloader 17.
41.5- 2882
41.8- 2885
42.1- 2909
42.4- 2929
42.7- 2962

I have a 12 pound 6.5 SLR and have been running 42.5g of Reloader 17 all summer and doing very well with it.No case issues of any kind. And I had a nice flat line right at 42.4 and 42.7 just like my light rifle.Run the light rifle at 42.5 for 2940 or so.It works.

I picked up the Rel 16 at last weekends match and wanted to just see how it stacked up.
Its sold as being faster than Rel 17 but im thinking that they got that all wrong.
The Reloader 16 has a bit more bulk to it than 17 and has a dull finish. It actually meters better than 17.Not sure why that is.But it seems that way.
I saw no signs of pressure with any of these loads. But you should keep in mind that I have a small firing pin and these Defiance actions are real good at hiding pressure... Just to check things out I decapped the 42.7 and 43g loads of Rel 16 and reprimed them.Checking for over sized primer pockets.
I saw no issues and will go up, as I still have room in the case.
Interesting was that the Rel 16 ladder of six rounds, only had 3.5 inches of verticle at 500 yards.. This is very good..
The Rel 17 had 5.5
Only load data on Rel 16 I could find, on the 260 Rem, was some recipe garbage, saying that 41.7 and a 142g MK was dandy.

Good info. Please keep us informed of your results.

Not nearly as precise as your load tests, but I've run both in my 30--06. At first blush, I'd say they were capable of the same velocity but Re 26 takes 1-2 grains more to get to the same velocity. Their load data, at least for 180, 30-06 loads indicates more velocity with Re 26. I'm running more test loads with it next weekend. Accuracy wise it is right there with H4350 in my gun.
The Rel 16 and Rel 17 were all fired within about 1.5 hours.
Was trying to keep the barrel from getting to hot.Even as it was, it got a tad warm.
From several weeks ago.Same same as above.

Reloader 23.

42.6- 2686
43.0- 2701
43.4- 2721
43.8- Brain Fart
44.2- 2785 .........book max
44.6- 2798 .........compressed
45.0- 2833 .........more compressed

H4831SC.

44.1- 2725
44.5- 2758
44.9- 2767
45.3- 2801
45.7- 2831 ........book max
46.1- 2855
46.5- 2855
46.9- 2988.........compressed

Total amount of vertical on the Rel 23 was 9.25 inches with a classic flat line...ie no verticle between shots 44.2 and 44.6.
Total amount of vertical on the H4831 was 10 inches.nice flat line between 46.1 and 46.5.

Thanks. I have been hoping RL16 would be a good alternative to H4350 in the 6.5 CM. Too early to tell I guess.

LOL

Looking over my post, I stated Re 26 in my 06 - it's Re 16, not 26.
bwinters,
Any feel for how clean burning 16 is?
My gutcheck feeling from what ive seen from the new IMR stuff is that the more copper eraser and temperature sensitive stuff they add.
The dirtier it gets.

Might be a tad slow for a creedmore.
One way to find out.

dave
I like to run a bit above 2900 with the SLR.
That doesnt mean that if I find a node at 2850 that drills bug holes at 500 yards, all day long, I wont use it.
It has to pass the clean test yet.
And I still need to go up some more in charge weight.
There is no dought in my mind that 16 is to slow for a 6.5x47.
dave
I honestly don't at this point. I've only burnt about 1/2 - 2/3 lb. I've cleaned the rifle but I didn't see any significant difference in the amount of crud that came out of the barrel - but its a little early to tell in my opinion.

Nice one Dave. My 6.5 SLR is under way. Just got to wait a bit for the stock.

RL16 be a little slow for the 130s in this cartridge you think?
Aus,

I think you will like it.
Sounds like your using good quality stuff.
If you run a 260 Rem case.
Its pretty simple.. Stroke a 260 case in a SLR die and your done.
Because I wanted to use the SR primer I got into extra work.
Just looking im thinking you will run out of room in the case before you get to where you want to, go speed wise. With a 130g bullet.

My match load that I just shot on Sept 4th with the 140g LRBT.
Running 2948fps.
Crows at 850-......... 21 inches
Woodchucks at 900-.........23.25 inches
Bobcats at 950-......... 25.5 inches
Coyotes at 1000-......... 28 inches.
I hit 28 out of 40.

I played with Superformance and got over 3000fps.
Actually shot Surperformance in a match last year.
Its not bad.
A 140 trumps a 130.

I just bumped into it by accident.
Figured I'd give it a try.
