I seem to be running into conflicting info regarding these bases. Are they the same as Remington 700 bases? Some guys say yes, some say the rear is actually 10 or 12 thou different. Even manufacturer's don't seem to agree, some have same part # and some are different. Anyone know for sure?

I use Remington 700 Talley Lightweights on mine

I think the Talley ones are specific to the VG.

I used Talley based and rings I had on a 700. Look great, they are fine rifles!
I've heard the same stuff. But I use Weaver bases for Rem 700.

Correct. I e-mailed Talley several years ago asking why. Their reply was because of slightly different receiver heights. Obviously those for the 700/Howa fit but I've never had a Vanguard to check the front/rear height alignment. I believe the Weaver mount chart calls for the same bases for 700/Howa/Vanguard, but denotes they may need shimming when used with the Vanguard.

I skipped all the confusion and just ordered mine from Weatherby...they're made for the VG by Talley and not too expensive as I recall.
