Gonna try some Nozzler AccuBond 180 gr in my 300 WSM. Have RL22 and H4350 on hand. Any feedback on which is better suited for said round? Would like to try to keep my inventory needs low.

Not a gunwriter but I do have an opinion:

Both will yield velocities north of 2950 FPS in a 24" barreled 300 WSM. The Top RL22 loads, velocity wise will be compressed. H4350 top loads will not, being a bit faster powder. Top RL22 loads will produce a bit more velocity (about 50-75 FPS, over H4350, nothing earth shattering) at pressure. Pick your poison.

RL19 and MR 4000 are also in the same ballpark.

Don't be afraid to try several powders. This was my mistake when I first started loading. Remember that each chamber is an entity unto itself. What works good in one may not do the same in another. Just don't buy a caca load of powder until you see what it does in comparison. Just buy a pound of each. Whichever one doesn't do good or does less, you will find a use for.

I'd personally try to make something work with the H4350. RL22 is the most temperature sensitive powder I've ever used, so much so that I've quit using it.

Load both.

Let your rifle choose.

Experiment. Find the magic fairy dust.

I've found the same thing... or close... most temp sensitive to me has been H 335...

that notwithstanding, Rl 23 seems to be real close to the burn rate of RL 22
and its been temp insensitive in my use so far.... low 30s to high 90s...

However I came to another perspective. In my case I decided it doesn’t make any difference.

If I need 1 lb of powder what difference does it make IF it’s a different powder ?
I O W, a pound is a pound.

Since you live in Mi, I suggest a diff powder than R 22

I've owned two 300WSM, a Tikka and Kimber Montana. Tried 7 different powders and the H4350 worked the best for accuracy, extreme spread, and velocity.

I think RL22 gets a bit of a bad rap for being temperature sensitive, it is on the other hand the worst powder ever for lot to lot uniformity, find a lot# and buy 5 to 10 pounds of it. I have been using it in 300WM for decades with no problem.

Seafire says H335 is temp sensitive and I agree but to me the worst by a lot is H380

We agree on H 335, but I have not had the same experience with H 380... but then also, I don't think I've ever used it in real temp extremes.. even tho I have burned a lot of it over the years.. I like h380...

I'll also agree with you on RL 22, on the statement of inconsistencies and uniformity from lot to lot variation.
I quit using it, and found RL 19 was a good alternative or substitute.

I did try Rl 23 when it came out and have had good luck with it and found it very consistent., plus Sportsman's Whorehouse had it available for a nice price...so I accumulated 10 to 12 pounds... which should keep me busy for a while...

That's the type of feedback I was hoping for. I'm not totally against adding to my powder inventory, but don't want to if not necessary. Currently, I love Varget and H4350. Can use it in almost everything in the safe. It appears in all 4 of my load manuals, so it gets bumped to the front of the line as a contender. Thanks Rug3.
