Any of you guys have a witches brew or know of a solvent that will remove old Loctite from screw threads?

Thanks Lefty

What color Loctite?

Acetone will usually work, if not heat and a wire brush will get rid of it. Depends on the parts, screw/bolt or threaded hole.

soak screws in diesel fuel for a couple weeks then wire brush.

heat

The manufacturer says remove by mechanical means. Acetone will soften it but nothing will dissolve it, at least nothing you can get your hands on. And the stuff looses strength rapidly when above a couple hundred degrees.

Oh, acetone will find its way between the stuff and the metal if it wasn't properly applied, at least sometimes. You're supposed to de-grease before applying but it seems nobody does.

A die is the easiest solution for cleaning up a screw.

put a small sodering iron to the head of the screw it will melt the look tite

Guessing a scope ring mount. Hair dryer or soldering iron will get it loose. Then acetone wire brush to remove the residue once things are apart.

Toenail polish remover

I have removed Loc-tite using acetone, Loc-tite makes a remover which I am pretty sure is just acetone or an acetone based concoction. To remove screws from an assembly I have used a soldering iron, last remnants are removed with a wire brush or wire wheel.

Used heat from solder gun and a fine wire brush. Cleaned them right up.

Thanks everyone!

So toenail polish remover is used by both (or all of the) genders? Seems I missed something in male grooming.

Y'all probably know this, but in case you don't . . .
Most polish removers are acetone with a bit of "perfume" added.
Cheaper in the paint department.

I wondered when anyone would tell these guys that acetone is the main ingredient in nail polish remover - toe or finger! Be Well. Rusty
