Sierra supposedly just announced two new .224 Diameter bullets.

Anyone have any info?

64gr Tipped GameKing #4062. w/ .323 BC

62gr SBT GameKing #9362. w/ .298 BC

I don’t see the reasoning behind the 62, wedged in between the 55 and 65 SBT’s I don’t see it’s purpose.

The 64 I my opinion is a start, but it falls short of where I’d like to see them, think .224 77 TGK.

Maybe the 65gr SBT is going to be discontinued.

There isn’t much need of a 77 TGK either, the 77TMK behaves in an excellent manner on game. I was skeptical but tried them at Form’s recommendation and they are outstanding at 223 velocity. We killed 2 bucks and some pigs this fall with them and the 2 we recovered looked like magazine adds for hunting bullets, perfect mushrooms and perhaps %50 weight retention.

My rifle likes the 63 gr semi-pointed so it might like either one of these. I'll have to give them a try.

Thanks for the heads-up.

The 62 gr softpoint will probably be shorter for slower twist rifles.

Just curious has any one done any loads / hunting with the 64gr Tipped GameKing / gamechanger? (#4062)

Seriously, I've used the 65 grain SGK as a great all around bullet in my 7, 8, and 9 twist rifles. It's not the only .224 bullet I've killed deer with by any means, but it's sure my favorite.

Just think if it had been a 62 ttsx you couldn't have recovered it, but if you would, 100% retention and great mushroom... every time. LOL.

I've found the 65 GK will shoot as accurately as the 69 MK (untipped) to 200 yards; haven't tried either at longer distances. I use H4985 powder, though TAC is a close second. I've been shooting these bullets in a couple of Colt 1 in 7" ARs and a CZ .223, 1 in 9".

The 65 SGK stabilised fine in my 12tw 22-250 - Superformance powder - just saying .

Yep, and there's no reason it shouldn't stabilize in a 1-12.

I'd like to see them go the other way too- a longish 40 grain flat base hollowpoint to compete with the Berger 40 FB Varmint. Quite the sizzling bug holer out of my Browning Low Wall .223.

Does anyone have a length on the the new .22 TGK? Any reports if this will stabilize in a 1:12" twist .223R? Or will it be a waste of time?

There was a thread on here about the 62’s and the 65 came up. Sierra says 10 twist minimum for both. The guy called and asked. Last post.

Another plug for that Browning, huh? Now if it was a Hornet, I'd understand.😜

Pappy, the only chambering in a Low Wall I would like to see setting beside my Browning would be a .22 Hornet. Or a .219 Donaldson Wasp, or a .22 Baby Niedner, or a....
