Has any one cut their 24” down to 18 or 20” ? Pros cons
Looking for a short barrel truck gun but found a tikka ss 22-250 full size for a good price
Pros--easy to handle. Cons, increased muzzle blast, especially below 20", noticeably reduced velocity, and noticeably less stability for off-hand shooting. A 24" barreled rifle is much easier to shoot off hand than an 18" barreled rifle.
But the 18" def fits behind the seat better.
How much velocity loss per in woul$ you take a guess at

I cut my 223 tikka down to 20" and replaced the buttpad with a flat 1/8" black pad. Shortened the rifle overall 3 1/2" and its noticeably handier in the truck and now works great for the grandkids as well. I would do it again
