Decided to retire the Whitworth 375 and obtain a new 375 H&H for the next African trip. The new Steyr was delivered today, believe a 2-8x42 Karl Kaps will top it off.

Fantastic

I am currently in process of replacing my 375 and 404 with a 416. So far, I am really liking the 416. Load development has been a little slow and plan on sharing when the project is completed.
Never had any problem with my Whitworth 375 what's the problem? If it's mechanical let's hear it or if you just wanted something different say so. You have in the past been pretty direct
Please state the problem with your whitworth

Nothing is wrong with the Whitworth, a great rifle that has taken a lot of game. Seen this Steyr and said to myself I want a new rifle and thought it would be a nice match to my 8x68S Steyr.
Where are you getting the scope from? Those Kapps scopes interest me.

I have bought them direct from Kaps.
OK, better than a Blaser.
If I found one chambered for .458 WinMag
I would impulse buy it.

It could get even slower when you start looking for reloading components...

.416's are getting more and more popular from what I've read and heard. And, IMO, for good reason.

I have had the rifle for well over a year. I have enough supplies, but discovered last night I had a bent decapping rod. Aarghh

The testing will crawl to standstill.

Tell me about the 8x68S please. Is it the new model? The old Model S in 8x68S is on my bucket list

Have two Steyr’s in 8x68 a custom and a Mauser M03. One is the new CL2 and the other is a SBS 96. As far as the cartridge is concerned it is a 338 Win mag shooting 200 grain bullets without the belt. The rifles themselves are very durable and accurate. The SBS I did have a modification done to reduce bolt lift. Between stock geometry and the recoil pads the felt recoil is more of a shove than kick. Both rifles absolutely love 200 grain Partitions and have been a hammer on African plains game and elk/red deer. I hunt Eastern Europe and ammo is easily available, if needed, as it is in Africa, at least in Zim it is. Norma makes brass as does RWS. Dies are available from all the manufactures. I have Forster and RCBS sets.

If it's a Steyr, it WILL be a shooter.
