Can't imagine that it will make much of an impact on this side of the pond. It would be interesting to see some real ballistic info.

This is getting to be a pretty crowded space. I can recall when there was nothing but limited supply of old Kynoch 404 jeffrey and the distant memory of the 416 Rigby. Both back strong today. Now we also have the 416 Remington and 416 Ruger. Another recent wannbe 400 H&H and the not much heard from lately, the 416 Dakota. Hornady is even loading the 450/400 for a rimmed option.

Now a 10.3 x68. I think a serious lack of imagination, if you ask me.

Seems like not much more than a .416 Taylor.

Exactly, I would go one further and say they are all the same as far as being on either end of bullets path.

It's going to loaded with 170 to 400 grain bullets. Kind of a one rifle for everything.

Yeah, sort of like the .400 Pondoro that A-Square was pushing a few years back. It used everything from .41 Mag pistol bullets to 400 gr pachyderm stompers. This one uses .415" bullets. Those don't exactly grow on trees...

Yeah, I really don't see what problem they think they're solving here. Especially in a diameter with no bullets - is their intent really to use .416" bullets?!?

I'd stick with the .404J or .416 Remington.

Probably intended for European hunters to use both in their home countries and in Africa. Unlike us, Americans, Europeans are limited in the number of guns they can own and their ammunition supluy.

A one rifle battery to do it alll is probably an attractive proposition for Europeans, but for us, not so much. I do give RWS credit for a new heavy medium cartridge, as that class is the most interesting IMHO.

Actually, SOME Europeans are limited in the number of firearms they can own. It varies widely from country to country, but American tend to lump all of them together.

Another probably reason for the new round is that SOME (not all) European countries don't allow the use of lead bullets, and "non-toxic" bullets tend to be lighter than lead-cores when made in sizes that stabilize easily. This cartridge would provide the options of using pretty big non-lead bullets.

Should be hell on pigs.
