Well I loaded up a few rounds this weekend for my Rigby and got around to shooting em today. This isnt never going to be my first choice of varmint guns but it does show some accuracy potential. Now I know some will say theirs can do better and some wont but.......It's pure factory and it's a #1 so it's got 2 strikes against it right off the bat! (grin) I am trying to work up a black bear load so I think the el cheapo Hornady will work fine. I should slow it down a bit though.

What's the deal wth the rear scope mount.

Had to run downstairs and make sure you hadn't swiped my #1 Rigby. [Linked Image]
Fun, ain't it?? [Linked Image]
I have more trouble getting a 700VLS to group than my Rigbys.
Mike375,
It's an extension ring, it allows be to move the scope back appx. 3/4". With out that it makes be crawl the stock to get the proper eye relief. This is due to this particular scope and the quarter rib mount on the Ruger #1. I have Leupold 6.5x20x50's on other #1's and they dont need the extension rings.

it does look a little funky dosent it........AA
AA,

The photo make it looks like a set of those mounts that have the windage screws at the rear mount and the ring has slid through them.

All those Ruger 1 s seem to shoot real nice in the calibers from 375 and up. I suspect the very heavy barrel helps.
