It's getting to be time to start thinking about pies..

Those are really nice blackberries!

Blackberry cobbler is about as good as it gets.

raspberries are a week or so from ready here. i love a good raspberry pie. and my blueberry bushes are finally producing a decent crop this year. might get a pie or two and a couple of batches of muffins out of them. i also have a few thornless blackberry bushes but they are somewhat iffy. they get a few berrys that are the best blackberry i have ever had, but are not very good producers. maybe it will take a few years for the plants to establish.

that's some impressive rhubarb.

Of course, here the rhubarb is ready well before any berries are, so we have to make do with store bought strawberries. And blueberries.

My wife made a nice cherry pie yesterday. Thought she was poking vents in the shape of a star, but something happened in the oven and we got a shark. That's OK with me as that's my favorite HOCKEY team!

going to the farmers' market tomorrow, first one of the year here. Maybe we find someone else with berries that are ready and I get another pie next week!

My mom and her sister (my aunt) make bumbleberry pie and it's one of my favorites. Apple, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and ruhbarb. Good stiff!
