Ok who else is heading down to their local 100+ yrs old Italian Bakery today to celebrate? Same building and location. Great Grandparents got their daily bread here.

Similar to how a friend feels about Molinari's in SF's North Beach.

Good thing I live so far away from that place.

30+ years ago I lived for a time near Lake Merced in Daly City. Needless to say Molinari's and other Establishments in North Beach made a few thousand off me during that time.

Sadly Demonrats have driven many of those wonderful ol'time Italian businesses out of SF.

My two bakeries, Naple's and Cardinale's, closed many years ago. Looks like the same ovens. My paternal grandfather worked at Naple's for a while after he retired from US Steel. I can't find good bread around here.

The bread I like best of all is Canadian City Rye Bread.

Took today off cause the kids didn't have school. We went on a big hike then out for lunch to a nice local eatery. I had a 2 pm beer to celebrate Columbus.

Hope everyone had a great day. Makin memories with the kids at the pumpkin patch today. A real one on a working farm. Not one of them pseudo oversize road side stands.

corner markets...i used to love visiting relatives in the city during the Summer, could walk a city block to the store for candy, ice cream and bubble gum, maybe even a pinball machine. often the same with the butcher and baker

OTOH, i could roam the woods at home

Still have a few of them around the city. Alas a large swath of them were raised when a section of freeway was completed in the early 70s connecting the two Interstates that run on either side of the City about five miles apart.

My screen name is actually an ode a famous movie made during that time in our Fat City.

When we lived in Oz, Chelmer being a suburb of Brisbane, every corner had either a meat market, bakery, produce market, cafe, etc. Very much what I grew up with in NorCal. My youngest son enjoyed seeing the "old school" that I grew up with.
