WOWIERS!! crazy

I joked about making a video about dining. There would be bottles of very expensive wine and champagne on the table. There would be a beautiful slab of prime rib and a large lobster. There would be a large tin of top grade caviar. I'd be lighting a Montecristo #2 with a burning $100 bill. A waiter would appear and ask if I'd like a dozen oysters, and I'd say certainly not, I can't afford it. :grin

Aren't they usually like under a $1.00/ea? How much are they selling for now? I thought I saw them selling in Kroger last week for $.69/ea, It can't be that much more.

I love grilled oysters and can eat my weight in them.

They were $18 a dozen here this week, just a little higher than usual.

Never ask the price, as I can only get them when we visit either coast !

Ah, but beef I can get !

Seriously though, local lamb guy & pork guy, tell me how much & I give them what they ask, + 10% rounded up to the next $10, all cash.

I'm always their 1st port of call !

I like grilled oysters. Drago's in Metairie, Louisiana are the best I have eaten

When I was in Namibia we did a harbour tour in Walvis Bay. Probably 25 on the boat, mostly German tourists.

Near the end of the trip guy brought out two huge platters of oysters. Hardly anyone touched them so X2 and I had a feast!

This cost me about $4 in Port Elizabeth, SA. I’d eat that every chance I got!

Hard to believe they were once considered peasant food. The streets of seaside New England towns were paved in oyster shells. They were available everywhere for practically nothing.
