It sure is windy today. Had a peak gust of 47 mph a while ago, and they say this is only the appetizer for some stronger winds tonight. I live near the mouth of a canyon through the Wasatch Front, and it serves as a "nozzle" to focus wind coming from the east. There's a cold low passing south of us, and the flow around it is the reason for the canyon winds.

As an artifact of the easterly wind, my digital rain gauge is flipping like a see-saw, telling me I got 1.31" (so far) since midnight. But not a real drop. Fortunately, there's a way to correct the totals. More wind, rain, and then snow coming through Thursday. Ahhh...April in the Rockies!
It's windy in Iowa to Rocky.

Uhhh....got a recipe?
I obviously posted in the wrong forum. I'll claim that the wind blew me over here. You'll buy that, right?

Anyway - Update: The power went out at 3:25 am until 7:30. Peak gust at my house was 52 at 3:25 - no coincidence re the power. We have half an inch of snow on the ground and it's gusting to 40 regularly. 34 degrees and the chill factor is...damn cold. Next canyon south of us had a gust of 84 mph and there are semi-trailers blown over on many highways. It is not unheard of to have boxcars blown over between Ogden and Salt Lake City. Forecast thankfully is for the downslope winds to die off and heavy rain to start about noon.

Sure glad the power is back on!
