Snort it for max effect:
That's about as good an idea as any Mathman.
Thinking Johnny Loco has snorted worse.
Used it on every steak my Dad ever cooked.
Had no idea how steaks actually tasted until I was in my mid 20's.
Love you Dad.
Heinz 57 is excellent on sharp cheddar.
Just railed a bit of A1.
Reminds me of the county fair....
I'll put it on a hamburger.
I put it on a burger sometimes too. Sometimes 57. I’ll use them for leftovers from time to time.
True 24hcf members only use salt and pepper....
Soy Sauce? Pffft......
There's "soy sauce" and then there's soy sauce.
Try it on rice, you will be surprised…
A1 is pretty good on some roast beef.
Never saw any other use for it.
Bet it would be good on an omelet or maybe on some scrambled eggs.
Step dad uses it on his extra well done steaks. I suppose it may even make a flip flop bottom half assed edible.
I like a tad of it now and then on a freshly grilled medium/rare hamburger with an onion slice.
Have never liked A-1. Do like 57.
!!!
I rate my steaks by the sauce I use:
Great steak= no sauce
Good steak= A1
OK steak = 57
There is now a Black Pepper and Smoky version of A-1. It's thicker, less sweet, and with a more intense flavor. Wife bought it by accident, but it may now be our favorite. We also like 57 for things like pork chops. Both good.
To those who sneer at sauce and say steak is best as-is, I ask if that's so why do you add salt and pepper?
Pepper is a flavoring....salt is a flavor enhancer.
I love A-1. When I was 4 or 5 my mom walked into the kitchen to find me in the fridge drinking it right out of the bottle.
That being said, I don’t use it much, especially on my steak.
I do love it on my baked potato though.
Used it on every steak my Dad ever cooked.

Pretty much the same with my Dad until I was a teenager and started learning to BBQ on an oak pit myself.
A1 has no place near a steak!
I never tried to make this but it looks interesting

Your guys dad cooked steaks? Must be nice…
Haven't used A-1 since college in the 80's and was introduced to Central Coast liveoak BBQ tri-tip.
That's to say unless eating at a restaurant diners or Grandparents, both sides, who never could grasp carryover cooking and resting or spending a little more for better fattier cuts.
By the 90's I had taken over all meat cooking duties at all family functions.
Only if I was guest and someone overcooked my steak.
If I paid for the meat, and grilled it past a very red med/rare, I'd give it to the dogs and start over.
A bit of A1 is great on a hamburger steak and also compliments pot roast and chicken-fried steak, but it has no place on an actual steak.
I've never been a fan of it myself. Outside of Alabama white sauce - I don't think I've really got any desire to sauce much of anything. Ribs get a bbq sauce - occasionally.

Not really. When Grandma died, Dad got the propane bbq. Mom figured he could help out with dinner and he started doing the steaks. We also got a nice set of serrated steak knives that were very helpful and much needed.
Heinz 57 is excellent on sharp cheddar.
Agreed! 👍
Heinz 57 is excellent on sharp cheddar.
It's good on eggs too.
Right beside a chitty truckstop breakfast steak.
Wife likes A1.
I prefer this.
It helps the occasional dried out steak. (Unlike some, we arent perfect)
It is good with just a tad mixed into burger, or mixed with mayo on a burger.
A-1 is my favorite salad dressing!

Two little straws or one big one?
Don't leave off the MSG sprinkles.
I had a hamburger steak last night and put some A1 on it and just as an afterthought, put some horseradish on as well. The A1 and horseradish went together very well on the hamburger steak. I will most definitely do that again.
I'll put it on a hamburger.
Ditto
I'll put it on a hamburger.
Ditto
But not if someone calls it a hamburger steak....
A! sauce has it's place, burgers, cube steak, meatloaf and cheap cuts.
If I'm having a so-called hamburger steak it's usually accompanied by gravy and onions so no, I wouldn't.
If anyone bitches about someone using A1 or 57 on their steak after they marinating or rubbing spices on the steak, I find that interesting. What's the difference, you are changing the flavor of the steak.

What about salt, pepper, garlic?
Always laugh at the wannabe purists who talk about the flavor, but use them.
IDGAF if someone smothers their steak, hope they enjoy it!
I'm not so pure about steaks as I once was, but on a fine piece of meat I'm still not likely to use a bottled sauce. Red wine reduction pan sauce with shallots, onion and/or mushroom pan sauce, peppercorn and cream pan sauce, those are on the radar.
Mathman.
Local place does a Filet you can cut with a fork.
Nick's Grill. $45.00
6 oz Filet, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Spinach, Stone Ground Mustard Sauce, Crumbled Blue Cheese
I'm not much on sauces at all, but I'll be GD'ed if this aint amasian!
(Cuts gotten smaller in Bidens America FWIW)
A local spot does a filet mignon set on a bed of crispy potato strips. It's topped with mushrooms and a veal demiglace. Killer.
I've used some steak sauce in a mixture to make a BBQ sauce. Once or twice. Otherwise it has no redeeming qualities, and even then, I probably could of left it out and not missed a dang thing.
All A-1 goes in the trash
All A-1 goes in the trash
My heart is breaking....
I can’t stand the hate….
Where's your straw?
That looks like a two straw ordeal.
I can’t stand the hate….
Dang!
Congratulations!
I can’t stand the hate….
Is that their new fuel treatment?
If someone served me a steak with A1 on it, I would not complain. Unless it was dry or tough.
I have my preference for cooking a steak to my personal liking, but that doesn't mean that it's the only way to cook one. Likewise, I've enjoyed all sorts of "pizza" that I wouldn't consider a real pizza. But that doesn't mean that I didn't like eating them. Just different.
My point being that I believe that you can enjoy something for what it is. It don't need to be perfect or what you normally expect. If I expected everyone to cook steaks and pizza the way that I want, then I am setting myself up for disappointment because most don't meet expectation.
^^^ Cough cough two straws cough
Just had one hell of a New York strip steak cooked on the grill,
Salt and pepper………
And A1, Hell ya.
I can’t stand the hate….
Bar oil
I can’t stand the hate….
Made me laugh.

Repressed memories working at Happy Steak are flooding back.
Grew up going to a Happy Steak.
I still can remember the plastic pink cow thing they stood up in your steak that said "Medium".
Didn't know it was a chain.
Little do you guys know… that jug of A1 is already empty.
^^^ Cough cough two straws cough
If a steak needs sauce i go with a splash of lea&perrins.
If i cook , it needs nothing
Wife likes catalina dressing

I don't use it on steak, but I love it on fries.
If you just have to have steak sauce, mix Lea & Perrins Worcestershire and a good ketchup (not too sweet) 50-50 or 60-40, depending on your taste.
Beats hell out of any pre-bottled sauce.
I can’t stand the hate….
Dang!

Down the hatch!
My god you fuuckers!!! Haha 🤦♂️🤦♂️
