I bought a jar thinking it would be great, I like Miracle Whip better.

I will not respond to this obvious troll.

Damn, I just did.
Posted By: JefeMojado Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
Never understood how anyone can gag down mayo......emulsified oil and egg yolks, and next to no flavor. Miracle Whip; tangy, touch of sweet , tons of flavor without all the grease.

And I can never understand how anyone can gag down MW.
Posted By: NVhntr Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
My grocery recently started stocking Dukes. I know because I walked right passed it on my way to the MW.
Posted By: Cecil56 Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
I'll eat either one. Personally, if I make potato salad, I mix them about 50/50. Seems to suit my tastes well.
Posted By: 5sdad Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
I don't know how people can feel right about mentioning Duke's when there is not a genuflection emoji available.

Miracle Whip is the work of the devil and the mark of a bad childhood.

Then you like MW better than mayo.
Posted By: johna1 Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
miracle whip. Yuk.

Maybe you should read the ingredients and ask yourself why they called it miracle?

water, soybean oil, high-fructose corn syrup, vinegar, modified corn starch, eggs, salt, natural flavor, mustard flour, potassium sorbate, spice, and dried garlic.

What do you object to on that list of ingredients? miles
Posted By: wabigoon Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
Miles, I thought it would have more tang?
Posted By: wabigoon Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
Auk, you remind me of a school friend. he was calling this guy, and that guy, "The Prong."

I asked him, who is , The Prong, he said, anybody but me.

Old girl friend told me MW and cum taste about the same. Never could do MW after that.

Hellman's mayo, or the highway !
Posted By: Verylargeboots Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
I use Dukes for my potato salad. It's more about the viscosity than the taste. Dukes thins with heat and thickens with cold. Whereas MW remains a constant.
Posted By: BALLISTIK Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/07/23
Duke's, Hellman's, MW it's all SOY BEAN OIL. Make your own less you become a soy eating communist, homosexual. Soy mimics estrogen in humans, so every time you feed that to yourself or your family, you are dosing them with the same ingredient in birth control, though it won't prevent conception.

There is a place for all of them.
Miracle whip for a Cold sandwich with lettuce and tomato on it. Or macaroni salad.

Mayo for hot sandwich grilled cheese, hamburger, or potato salad.

Reasonable positions such as this are not permitted on the 'fire; you must be violently in favor of one position (the "right" one) and violently opposed to the other.

Is this news to anyone?

I used Hellmans till they started offering Dukes locally. I use Dukes now.
Posted By: The_Real_Hawkeye Re: Duke's Mayo. - 03/12/23
I'm digging homemade mayonnaise. So much better than anything store bought. I make a fresh batch every once in a while and it lasts all week in the fridge.

One whole egg and one additional yolk from another (from my own flock of free ranging, pastured, hens) into a mixing container. Into that add a couple of tablespoons full of distilled white vinegar, a half teaspoon of yellow mustard, a quarter teaspoon of salt, extra light olive oil (not extra virgin or even regular olive oil, as they have a decidedly non-mayonnaise type flavor that produces the wrong result) of a volume to match the total volume of what's in there. Now put a stick style blender in all the way to the bottom and blend. Continue to add more extra light olive oil as you blend till it assumes the consistency you expect from mayonnaise, and you're done.

PS Light olive oil is just olive oil that's been so much filtered as to eliminate the distinctive olive oil flavor, so it can be used in a more versatile manner.

We started using Duke's since it became available out here. Like it.

+1 for Duke's, really the best mayonnaise I have ever used. How many here use Duke's with french fries instead of ketchup?
Ever been to Belgium?
