Growing up I'd open a jar just so my mom would make pickled eggs.

My folks are from Central Europe, so beets, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, and pork generally make it to most meals. My mother made a cake with beets. I guess the original red velvet cake?

Caught my wife looking for her secret borscht recipe yesterday !!

Apparently, we received garden fresh beets, from our neighbour, while I was fishing Saturday !
