Cleaned up an old one tonight, it says Wagner wear Sidney, and 0

On the handle there is a 3. It is small, 2 maybe 3 eggs max do cooking size.
My grandparents got it as a wedding gift, gramps would have been 100 this year.

I have another one cooking 75 years of stuff off, but haven't found markings yet. It's probably a 14 or so inch.

It was kinda cool to see Wagner come out of all the crusty stuff. smile

That's some great cast iron, congrats and USE IT. That's all I use now!

I'm with Robster. It's darn near all I use anymore on the stovetop.

These are the kind of results you get from ~ 100 yo cast iron. Mine happen to be Griswold. Wagners work the same. Here's what you're fixin to get yourself into once you get the addiction rolling. smile

I don't think I'd melt lead, and cook with the same pan.

Apparently you don't cast...No way they can be used to cook with afterwards..
Posted By: wabigoon Re: New to me Cast Iron.... - 08/19/17
Yes, I do cast, I would think it would obvious the lead would ruin the pan for food. We seem to be on the same page. Happy casting, and cooking to you, using different pots.

I have a touch of the hungrys and those plates of some wonderful food, especially the scallops and shrimp did not help!

So good looking I can almost taste them.

No wonder Pavlov's training worked

This one is what I use most. A #9. Joke with friends is it's turning into "my bowl". grin

Cleaned, re-oiled and ready for prime time. smile

Woody, that's really interesting that old cast iron can stand up to the punishment from casting!

An old cast iron skillet is what I used to clean up this 260lds of lead.

Good going, Robster! One way to get them interested is tell them how much less they have to wash pots & pans. grin
