Guys, after moving to West Virginia about ten years ago I quickly found some of the foods I love simply weren't available where I live so it was time to go on an internet hunt looking for smoked ham hocks that I enjoyed for so many years living in Pa. They're simply not here.

Anyoo, if ya like smoked ham flavor in your dishes go no further.

Skeptical at first when ordering but upon their arrival I found they were exactly what I had been enjoying for 30 years in Pa.

Arrived frozen in good shape.

BTW, I ordered a case to offset the shipping a bit

Split pea soup later on this week for sure. YUM.
Yeah, damn, those babies can infuse flavour into anything !

I got hocks/trotters with my whole pig this year.

smile

Happy for you too, Denny.
We use them when cooking a pot of those big ole white beans. Mom always called them Butter Beans

I went to pig farmer close by and asked him to save me some hocks.

"What's a hock?"

Whew !
I get them at Wal Mart. I don't know of anything that seasons a pot of beans as well. WM doesn't always have them so I get several when they do. Seem to have along freezer life.
Look for ham shanks instead.
i can readily get fresh smoked hocks, neck bones and glorious ham bones
I've used smoked hocks, and like the leftover from a pinknic ham better. Save all the fat to cook into the beans, sort it out before serving the soup.

When in Winnipeg last weekend, Deb & I went to a shared plate restaurant on Saturday night.

One of the plates we chose was braised lamb neck with buttery minty peas etc !

It was amazing !

284,
I know you come up Bedford way sometimes.
Holland brothers in Duncansville, or
Rhodes meat market in Martinsburg will fix you up.

They both cure their own meat and do it well.
Thanks.
