So, do you like to break your cracker up in the soup. Eat it separate? Don't like crackers? Oster crackers?

Do tell. laugh
I like all kinds of crackers.

Just not in the soup!

Sometimes we will butter a saltine and eat it with the soup.

My wife thinks I am odd for liking butter on a cracker.
If eating soup or chili w crackers I dip some on the cracker with a spoon and eat it that way.

I thought this was going to be racist!!!
Guilty as charged. I crumble up my crackers in my soup. šŸ˜¬

Chili, on the other hand I eat with Saltine Crackers instead of a spoon. šŸ¤
I smushed em up in soup when I was a kid because that's what my parents did but I quit somewhere along the way.
In chilli only.
Crushed up fine, no soggy, nasty sponge for me.

If the chilli is nice and thick to start, no quackers
Only if it's too thin to start.
Crackers for chili. Stacy's sea salt pita chips for everything else.

Busted up in soup (especially chili - goes well with the beans).

No crackers in my soup, but I'll crumble up saltines in my chili.
Posted By: wabigoon Re: The Great Cracker Debate - 07/29/19
I prefer the wheat saltines, I confess to like salt tops.
I like crafkers smashed up and thrown in a salad.
Posted By: New_2_99s Re: The Great Cracker Debate - 07/29/19
I prefer bread or toast !

Am I crackers ?

Saltines with a little butter and a dab of yellow mustard.

Iā€™d forgotten about those. Havenā€™t had those or canned squirt ā€œcheeseā€ in years. Loved that stuff when I was a kid. šŸ˜¬

I've ate those....pretty salty IIRC but I've honestly never bought a can of squirt cheese in my life.

Is that code for send me some schit? grin
Na......I'm a Ritz/Saltine kinda guy and I honestly wouldn't know what to do with a can of squirt cheese.

I might even hurt myself with it and you wouldn't want that on your conscience..
Ritz or Saltines crumbled in chili, Oyster Crackers in soup.

Croutons
Yeah, but there is such a wide range of quality with croutons. Most of them are too large as well.

A Club cracker is the same....every time.

What about those little tortilla strips?

Wrong flavor for my salad.
Posted By: nighthawk Re: The Great Cracker Debate - 07/30/19
Broken up saltines in soup and chili, but oyster crackers in oyster stew strangely enough. The trick is in breaking saltines down to just the right size, small enough to be easy to handle but not mushy crumbs. And brand matters bigly.

Those are good by themselves.

Too big on a salad.
Posted By: mathman Re: The Great Cracker Debate - 07/30/19
Croutons, not crumbtons. grin
I like em about the size of a sugar cube.

Like the ones the lunch lady used to dole out on chef salad day.

Lance Captain Wafers are tasty. Buttery and slightly sweet, they are great with a salad. For chili and soup I like plain old Zesta saltines.

Donā€™t understand putting bakery items on a salad, (ir)regardless wether itā€™s stale bread or crackers. Leaf lettuce stored in a humidifier manner works fine for a lettuce salad, but seldom do that plain.

I like carrots sliced thin on a diagonal, broccoli, and cauliflower. Theyā€™re crunchy.
