Just over a month out. What ya planning for turkey day?

I'm thinking dirty rice, haluski with polish wedding sausage, mash taters, and a spatchcocked bird.

Need to figure out a veg or two. Any suggestions?

I do love Thanksgiving though. My favorite holiday by a long shot. Family, friends, food and drink without any of the bullschit!

My fave as well. Dinner is pretty traditional. Turkey, stuffing, taters, a veg, cranberries, gravy, and pumpkin pie.

First time in 5 years i'll have all my kids for the holiday.

We are thinking shrimp and grits and some sides, yeast rolls, and some sort of cake for dessert.

I eat turkey every day so we try to do something different on Thanksgiving.

We are going to be at my Sister in Laws in Cambridge MA for Thanksgiving. Knowing her it will be very elegant and very small - She seems to think cranberry salad involves a single cranberry. I may need to get a turkey sandwich afterwards.

It's one of those things we have to do as a familial obligations. At least we're getting a few days up in NH prior.

We do the traditional route: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn in some form (I like scalloped), cranberries (sauce and relish with orange rind - both from berries), green jello/cottage cheese salad, ham (if I can sneak it in), pumpkin pie and whipped cream. The day of dining can vary based on people's schedules. The attendees can vary also; just about everybody is welcome, except for anyone who declares "Well, we won't have to eat for a week!"

Probably a deep fried turkey, smoke a prime rib, sides the usual
Stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.

Turkey, sausage and apple stuffing, sweet potato casserole with pecan topping, mashed potatoes, peas with pearl onions, baby carrots and some kind of salad or cole slaw, and crescent rolls (my kids favorite) . Not sure about dessert yet. Wine (red and white) and beer for the adults.

We were by ourselves last year on Thanksgiving, as my son was at his in-laws, and we decided not to go to the in-laws. So, we went to a early Black Friday sale at Rural King, and then to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Had to wait a bit, as there was a big crowd, but the food was good.

I'd much rather stay home and have turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, broccoli, and a piece of pecan pie. I'd also like to have some oyster casserole as my mother used to make, but no one eats it but me, so wife doesn't make it.
